Would these sound good via phone bluetooth listening to amazon music?

100% these speakers are quality! The sound is incredible! There isn’t a base or treble control if you want that then you’ll need an amplifier. But stand alone these are powerful and the sound is well rounded. More than good enough for phone playback. I have mine connected to a turntable. They’re plenty good enough for a lounge set up.

I understand they go into standby after 20 mins or so. Will they wake up if connected to tv for example and power on when tv plays?

A successful connection of an already paired Bluetooth device will bring them out of standby, and also an active USB connection will do the same. The analogue and optical inputs will not bring the system out of standby.

Do I need a preamp if I want to plug in a turntable?

Hello If the turntable is outputting phono level output, then yes, but some modern turntables are now equipped with a 'Line Out' output which does not require a phono pre-amp. You will need to check with the turntable manufacturers instructions as to what options they have in terms of output. Kind regards Sales
