Worked fine, Easy install
These work as advertised. Built well, and was a fairly easy install. Too soon to know how these will weather. I coated the unpainted parts, bearings, axles, etc... with a light grease to help ward off rust. Our drive is sloped. There is about a 2" drop in the six foot length of the gate when opened. It takes up the full vertical travel of the wheel and it does not touch the concrete when the gate is opened... so the wheel locking is kind of worthless for holding the gate open. I have some 1/4" thick aluminum and I think I will glue or bolt a small 4"x4" pad to the concrete where the wheel rests when the gate is opened. This will give the wheel something to grip when the lock is engaged.

excellent product
Well built, but the shaft could be a little longer for gates that traverse an unlevel surface. Regardless, the wheel, installed with a little vertical tension, prevents the gate from sagging. very satisfied.

Average quality.
Average quality. Looks decent but not as heavy duty as was expected. Wheel retained only by an internal spring clip that will eventually rust releasing the wheel. Finish is nice.

Does the job on paved driveway/walkway
Worked like a charm. We have a 3' picket fence dividing our driveway and walkway with a 4' long gate that was sagging. The springs help navigate the uneven grade on the driveway and the caster provides much needed support for that end of the gate.I would not recommend this for unpaved terrain. The caster is a pretty standard hard plastic material and I imagine it would get gunked up with dirt/mud quite easily, but for paved/hard surfaces it works fine.As others here have mentioned, it doesn't come with instructions, but it's pretty intuitive. Latch your gate shut and place the bracket against the gate so the wheel is resting on the ground, then mark your holes about 1/4" below that spot to account for the "give" of the spring.

Perfect Solution to Sagging Gate
The media could not be loaded. The sagging made the wood rub together making it almost impossible to open. Gate is only a year old and has already been adjusted and planed twice. The wheels are perfect to take enough weight off the hinges and separate the two gates. Now it’s a breeze to open and close! I wish I’d thought about this sooner.

Looks good, no instructions?!?!
Taking off two stars because no instructions. Whyyyyy?!??! All in all it took me about 45’ to install. With instructions it could have been 15’.I struggled most with choosing the correct size drill bit and after some trial and error sizing up from 3/16” ended up using a 5/16”, which allowed the bolts to slip cleanly through. If you want the bolts to screw into the hole then go with a 1/4”. I don’t have a socket attachment for my drill and I wasn’t going to spend 40’ with a manual wrench threading 4 bolts through 4” of wood gate. Also to give the gate support from the wheel, I moved the bracket down about 1/4” from where I measured with the spring fully extended. For installation, I held the spring compressed about 1/2” with an adjustable wrench wedged between the spring bolt and the bracket. I’ve seen other folks recommend a clamp but I don’t have any so had to improvise.

Very strong spring - needs solid track
Excellent gate support wheel. My gate now lifts into perfect latch position without me having to pull it upwards. Most gates will sag eventually and this wheel solves the problem once and for all. The bracket is very heavy duty and the provided bolts are long enough to pass through a 4 by 4. The (5 inch) wheel swivels easily on the caster bearing but you must provide a firm surface for it to roll on. In the dirt, it tends to dig in and stop sideways when it changes direction. I solved that problem by placing staggered ceramic tiles as a 'track' for the tire to roll on. Now my gate opens and closes as smooth as silk. This is the 250-Pound rated caster because you can never have too much capacity. The spring will only use what it needs, according to how high you mount it above the ground or floor. I mounted mine with a C-clamp to test the gate lift until I got it 'just right', which - for me - is at the center of the caster up-down range. Then I mounted the 'carrier' 2-by-4 to the gate with several 3-inch long screws.

Casters easy to install and sturdy
I added these casters to the gates on my privacy fence. Both open on slanted ground one is on a 10 degree pitch and the other is 5 degrees. These prevent the gate bottoms from dragging and make opening and closing smooth and easy. I was the only person in our household that could open the gate that was installed on the 10 degree pitch, but now my wife and kids can open both gates effortlessly. The wheel lock creates enough friction to lock the gate open in moderate winds, which is a nice feature. The wheels are sturdy enough for the aapplication, but I think they are the the least sturdy part of the caster. I used a corrosion inhibitor grease on the bolts screws and nuts to prevent rust and to make removal effortless. If this is your application I would recommend these casters. Add a lock washer to the nut whenever you install, and you can add a fender washer to the center screw to increase surface area. Those are the two things that should come with these parts, but I had some to add.
