It does the thing
Yup, they function as advertised (although I have no way to accurately measure the output voltage). Pretty terrifying honestly. Not a toy.

Poor quality units
Poor quality using a 3.7v battery only gave 4 great sparks on 1 unit then spark would only jump a 4mm 5mm gap checked battery was 3.4v used a different battery 3.7v same pathetic spark jump on both units one did give 4 or 5 scary spark jumps of 1 inch 5 cm but that was it truly rubbish not like ones I got years ago but that's the way it goes

3 - 6 volts MAXIMUM
Beware of the suggestion in the advert which says 6 - 12 volt. Believing that i ruined one by going above 6v. 6 VOLTS IS THE MAXIMUM!!

Good product
It does indeed produce high voltage from low voltage input, I would not recommend on the low voltage end anything higher than 4.5v (3xaaa or 3xaa batteries)

The kids wanted these, so I got them for them.

These can be used for high voltage experiments, but do be careful and also they easily burn out if used incorrectly
