Seems to last better than other options if not eaten in a month or more.
Better in hot weather than some other options. Ants seem to favor it but then the colony might die. Convenient package size as each bait is ~ 1 ounce.

Works great for rodent control
Summary: Rodents are disgusting creatures that can carry a variety of diseases. Trapping and releasing them or trying to drive them away with noise or repellents is futile, they will only live on to infest your neighbors property. Eliminating them requires some strategic thinking about outdoor bait stations, where to place them and vigilance to keep them refilled but it's worth it when eventually mice are history. The 9 lb bucket is more economical than driving to the local store for 4lb buckets when you run out. If you tried this and it didn't work for you, or you just want more detail read on...PROS: Will eliminate rodents over time. Safer for non target animals or pets because multiple feedings are required. Bait blocks do not seem to develop mold or degrade when exposed to moisture, they hold up for several months in outdoor bait stations. I have found a few carcasses outside the house, but generally they seem to expire conveniently out of sight in the yard somewhere.CONS: Not a "one bite" poison. If you have a serious mouse or other rodent situation, I've found that several mice can eat five or six blocks of this stuff in a week or two. A bait station that only holds one or two blocks is not really sufficient, especially if you don't want to be bothered monitoring bait stations and refilling them as needed. The 4 lb bucket contains approx 30 blocks, maybe one months supply if you have several large bait stations. The 9lb bucket contains approx 64 blocks seems like a lot, but you don't want to run out. Continuous feeding over several weeks is required for rodents to ultimately be effected by it.NOTES: These bait blocks are designed to be used outdoors inside a tamper resistant bait station, secured with a wire or metal rod so they can't be carried away. While these particular blocks may not be super poisonous, they could definitely pose a risk to any small animal if just left out in the yard. Store in a sealed container away from moisture, out of reach of children and pets.

Advice from a 73 yr old Rat Killer
I'm on my second bucket (one a year). I have two wood sheds where I bait them. The bait stations are good if you have pets but aren't necessary. Simply put a wire through the hole in the bate chunk & nail it down to a block of wood or a shelf.Sometimes I leave loose chunks around and let them take it off, hopefully to their nest. Rats breed fast and you must keep baiting until you get control. You'll never get totally rid of them but you can reduce the population. In the last year I've seen about 6 dead rats in our yard or near the shed. They eat it, look for water, and then bleed internally causing convulsions. If they die inside your house the odor is horrible for about a week. God forbid.Keep the bait dry. It works but don't think it's a short time problems unless your neighbors do the same.If they get inside the hood of your car (for warmth) they'll build a nest and eat your wires. Rats must constantly gnaw to keep their incisors from growing too long. A car wire harness can cost up to $2000. Your car ins. might cover the cost, much the same as hitting a deer. I use Bounce sheets, spray them with VO hairspray, and then shake plenty of Cayenne red pepper on the sheet. Put this near your wires and it will cause them to find another place to nest.

Kills mice and rats
This product works. I used over 10 pounds as our barn had many rats. They all died. You need to keep some on hand for new rats that show up.

I hate that I need to use this however it has proven very effective.
I have struggled for years with a rodent issue. When I needed an exterminator for a bug issue, they recommended the walk in bait stations, which naturally you need bait for. I hate, hate, hate, using this method however I had no choice. Works really well. I also got the bait stations on Amazon as well.

Great product
I tried many, many, many products to get rid of my periodic rat problem. (They like to come in to the warm in the winter in the country just like people) With this I don't worry about stray cats being poisoned from eating dead animals (I know, yuck, but cats are cats). And this works. Just put it out where pets won't find it and check it periodically. I cut the chunks into smaller pieces (quarters) so when they carry it away they are not leaving big pieces for other critters to find. It also lasts longer that way. This is a good sized container which I've used over the last year and there is still plenty left for this fall / winter onslaught of heat-seeking rats. I keep a magnetic mechanics dish on top of my hot water heater as well as a dish under my kitchen sink as those seem to be 2 places where they enter and are also out of my pets' reach. The rats like it, I like it - win/win - well, sort of : )
