The gluten free diet wasn't working and I found myself becoming unable to eat many of the foods I used to enjoy, meats
I stumbled unto Pete Osborne's website a few years after being diagnosed with a gluten intolerance. I appreciated the content of the site and knew I would be able to have it as an arsenal for information when I would need it later on.Years later after being gluten free (occasionaly I must add, but gluten free enough to warrant myself gluten free) I experienced another blow to my digestive system. The gluten free diet wasn't working and I found myself becoming unable to eat many of the foods I used to enjoy, meats, nuts, apples. I was in chronic digestive pain and was considering going on disability from the see-saw fatigue. Then I remembered Pete Osborne's website and his book No Grain, No Pain. I went on youtube and found some of his videos. Having a background in science I enjoyed his video as he explains things on a very molecular level that made a lot of sense to me. I was sold, and bought the book No Grain, No Pain on Amazon Kindle.No Grain, No Pain is an amazing book that covers basic nutrition too. So if you have family members suffering from other things than a gluten intolerance, you will find his books and resources eye-opening. Within the book there are recipes, scientific explanation as to why you feel the way you do, good dietary and supplement explanations, the best part is his list of chemical/FDA names for things that contain grains that may be found on the ingredient lists to help you stay away from them during you road to recovery.The recipes are very tasty and very simple, which is necessary for someone who is struggling from fatigue commonly associated with gluten intolerance or other autoimmune disease associated with inflammation triggered by dietary intake.MY TESTIMONY:I've been loosely following the guidelines in his book for about 3 months now. I no longer hunch over in pain after eating a traditional gluten free meal. I am not ravenously hungry all of the time. I have been having longer nights of fuller sleep (as I used to suffer from insomnia a lot). I have been losing weight (I never use a scale so I can't tell you how much I've lost but my clothes that were tight fitting and now I have about 2 inch slack room in all of them and I'm not looking flabby even though I don't exercise... this is the most muscle tone I've seen on me even when I did exercise a lot more being on the traditional gluten free diet). My coworkers are noticing the weight loss and are now asking me about going gluten free and grain free even though they know I've been doing this for the past 6 years. I still suffer from memory fog, but not as bad, and that's because I've been loosely following Peter Osborne's plan. There are different transition phases on the No Grain, No Pain plan and I'm just on phase one. I can tell you, buying this book has been the cheapest life saver for me yet. Many of my other aches and pains were coming from my diet that I would have never made the connection for if I never followed some of the items he suggests to eliminate ie I knew if I would always drink a certain soda I would feel worse than normal, but that soda had 1) corn syrup (grain) and 2) food coloring (which has a corn/grain based ingredient). So if you have a child with ADD or ADHD, the way Dr. Osborne presents how these processed chemicals/ingredients influence their behavior and attention span will be an eye-opener.DISCLAIMER: This review was written in exchange for a discount. However, what I've stated in this review is totally accurate and true of my experience in reading the book and listening to Dr. Osborne's videos. I do hope that the rest of the medical community becomes up-to-date with the knowledge Dr. Osborne is sharing in this book and also to all the other research that is taking place on gluten intolerance in highly respected research journals. Unfortunately, I know that many community physicians don't continue their education in their respective fields and this is when you have to place your health in your own hands.

Hope-giving!! This approach has changed my life!
Hope-giving! That is the best word I can think of to describe this book, at least from the perspective of one dealing with health issues, including autoimmune conditions, chronic pain, gut issues, weight issues, skin issues, etc. This is about what you can do to “eliminate the root cause” of your problem, rather than just treating symptoms.I had heard about going “gluten-free” and I thought that was just for people with bowel trouble, but I’ve now learned gluten can be the culprit behind so many other conditions as well. Dr. Osborne is saying that if we are gluten-sensitive (and maybe even if we aren’t) we actually ought to be GRAIN-free, and he shares the science behind it, the “pain” that all grain can cause and why, other factors we need to check and deal with, and some of the many success stories from his 15 years of clinical practice.No grain, no pain is the main point of the book, but Dr. Osborne covers so much more, including other problem foods, foods that are beneficial, the 2 diets with meal plans and recipes to help you , and a section on “Beyond Food” with helpful strategies to avoid other things that are toxic to our health and to incorporate things that are beneficial.The book is very easy to read and understand. Dr. Osborne is a great teacher!!! I love how each chapter has a “What you need to know” section at the end that has summary points of what he covered in that chapter. Each chapter also has a “Bonus Feature” that gives links to more information on the web, and there are also diagrams and charts that are helpful.I was fortunate enough to run across Dr. Osborne on the web over a year ago when I was looking for answers for why my hair was drastically falling out despite trying all kinds of supplements and home remedies (and having been told by my doctor it was just my age and heredity and there is nothing I can do but try Rogaine.) Hearing Dr. Osborne explain so thoroughly and specifically how various nutrition and lifestyle choices can affect our body’s ability to function properly gave me hope that there was something I could do besides use a drug that may or may not work for the rest of my life!By going grain free along with incorporating his other recommended food choices and lifestyle factors I began seeing results, not just with my hair loss, but with headaches, chronic skin conditions, restless legs, joint pain and more. What a difference! It works!!I’ve been grain free and following the other healthy guidelines for over a year now. When I first considered this change it seemed so overwhelming and I didn’t think I could do it and frankly I didn’t want to do it. But I did want to get better so I took the plunge, and it didn’t take long for me to realize that this new way of living was not only very do-able but that it is a positive thing with health benefits beyond my initial reasons for doing it. Instead of something I HAVE to do, it is something I GET to do and experience results!! I’m not saying there aren’t challenges and temptations that arise, but it is worth the extra effort!I bought 3 copies of the book (so far) so I can give some away to some loved ones with health challenges so they can learn and get better too.Thank you Dr. Osborne!!!

Awesome
That's a direct quote from my wife, who has many health issues, including food allergies and celiac disease. If you have any overall health issues, you should probably check this out, as he connects problems most of us wouldn't think of, such as heart issues, to the food we eat. There is a massive amount of unexpected, connected info here, presented by someone who writes well and presents the info in a manner the layman can easily grasp. The author is also a highly respected lecturer who has many podcasts on the subject - you may well find yourself searching them out as follow-up and additional information.This is an excellent companion book for the cookbook of the same name. We got the cookbook first and it was so good the purchase of this one followed.It would probably make more sense to get this book first, as it explains WHY you should follow the cooking guide of the cookbook.

Loads of good information in this book!
The people in the book are much more sickly than I am so I didn’t relate to most of their problems. But there is plenty of great info in this book concerning how grain and other foods affect your stomach, brain, and pretty much the rest of your body. I’m not sure I could do this detox program if I needed it. However if you are suffering like the people in the book, I guess you would do anything to feel better. Dr. Osborne shares his stories of helping many, many people, so I applaud him for his tenacity in solving the grain dilemma that has caused so many of us health problems. He is also “the founder of Gluten Free Society and the author of Glutenology” as stated on the back cover. I am trying to eliminate all grains in my eating so this book has definitely helped me. 😀
