Used for tropical storms and hurricanes (Central Florida)
Street floods and comes up the driveway. Two of these stacked on top of a plastic film has kept the garage totally dry. Now that I know (Company answered the question) they have a shelf life of 10 years or more, I am comfortable keeping several of different sizes in a tote for storm season to come around. Experimenting now for the first time on reuse -- 3 weeks and they are still drying out. Not optimistic but don't really care -- will happily trash them and use new ones next round as before if necessary. At my age I cannot handle sandbags and this product is fantastic. Even one layer of those across my 16' garage door would be impossible for me.Use: First use a few years ago I tried soaking them in bath tub for move to in-place. FAILURE on MY part. Horrible to move because of weight. I imagine like moving a 17' boa constrictor. Ever since I've always put in place, hosed down to partially expand (enough that wind wouldn't take away), and let the rising water expand them the rest of the way.Outstanding product. Cost is reasonable, storage for future emergency use takes little space and shelf life is long, lightweight for movement, easy to expand, and most importantly, they stop water intrusion.

Amazing! Hurricane Proof!
I bought this because we get rain sweeping under our glass sliding door when it rains. No more sand bags for us! These are amazing. Two weeks later hurricane Italian was on its way, so we bought another, and stacked them as shown in the photos and video. It hit us as a cat 3, and instead of collecting sand bags as we'd done in 30 previous years, we watched and waited, but not a drop made it into the house. Incredible! We bought the 17' ones and now own two, which we are very happy with.If you get flooding in your house, I'd strongly recommend purchasing these. My only complaint is that they take a long time to sink back to be rolled up again, (almost 2 weeks in the sun) very sturdy and we'll worth the money.UPDATE :JUNE 2024: we just ordered a lot of 5 more in expectation of this year's hurricane season. Our only complaint is that they take way too long to dry out. It would be great of you could put them in the dryer. So anyway,we bought 5 so that we could have enough to rotate if necessary.

Actually works.
Dries out again in few days. Seals >95%. I still sand bag both ends and the middle so it doesn't move in the wind when dried out. I still run a partial row of sand bags in front of a segment of it to stop sheet flow down a driveway that heads straight towards it. Would also make a GREAT supplemental barrier behind sand bags to catch any leakage,

Quick deployment with effective use - UPDATE 10/2/16
Prior to wet weather I purchased (3) of these as well as other sizes of Quick Dam to protect my home from potential water damage. We live in an area near a river that unfortunately has flooded (prior to our purchase of the home and not disclosed, and once while we've lived here ruining the duct system underneath the house). The last time we had 6" of water in our garage running through to the back patio. This resulted in mold and mildew issues, and other repairs. Trying to avoid those problems this year, and not wanting to have sand bags on hand, I purchased this product. This product is ideal for keeping water from running into a 2 car garage or setting up a barrier along a walkway. It's not very high, but it is effective as long as the water level is below the top of the flood barrier.---------------------------What I like about this product:1. Super easy to setup and use. Anyone of any age could use this product without an issue. *If it's raining when you set it up, it takes a matter of minutes for the moisture to activate the gel inside the flood barrier .2. Can be moved more quickly than filled sand bags if needed (with two people).3. Reusable and can be stored once dried out.4. Strong, quality construction.5. Comes in several sizes for various applications.6. The 6" (wide) x 17' (long) size works perfectly to protect the opening to a 2 car garage.7. The flood barriers are stack-able if needed.8. You can drive over the barrier and have it come back to its original shape. **Only if it's not totally saturated with water and then you are likely to rupture it under the pressure.**----------------------------What I wish was better...1. Drying this item out could take months if you had intermittent wet weather or lived in a place where humidity remains high.2. These are somewhat expensive, but if you purchase ahead of the wet season you'll get a decent discount.3. The height of the item is about 3-4" when fully expanded. This may not be high enough for some standing water, and while you can put one on top of the other doing this will prevent effective drying of the product.4. If fully saturated, you cannot run over them without them rupturing and spilling out the goo inside. Hard to clean up and renders the item useless. The material used could be a bit tougher.--------------------------------I'm very pleased with this product because it quickly and effectively solved my problem. It's not going to replace a wall of sandbags several feet high for major flood waters, but for diverting heavy rains or protecting doorways or similar, I think it's great.-------------------------------------------------------------------UPDATE: 10/2/16I did have to get rid of this item after one season, but I had driven over it (getting out of my garage) and left it in place for at least three months so this was expected.Eventually (with heavy rain and running over it when it was totally saturated) it did rupture and the beads that become big globs of goo when wet, spilled out onto the pavement. This wasn't tough to clean up when it was dry, but a headache when wet!I would like to see the company make them with a stronger material, but then again, if I'd not run over it - it probably wouldn't have broken open.I still love the product. Much easier for me to handle than sandbags (which we have too). It wouldn't be ideal for serious flooding, but it can keep about 3-4" of standing water from coming into my garage and that's what I was hoping for when I purchased this item. I will be buying more this season, although the prices have gone up a bit. **Check Amazon Warehouse for possible deals.**-----------------------------------------------------------------

Hurricane Hilary - Save The Day
Have been using this product for years now here in Southern Nevada, especially during monsoon season. I use it along the inside of our garage doors to prevent water entering along the sides of the door. The product does an excellent job of absorbing the water and preventing water from entering the garage. Once the rain stops, just lay it out to try. Note: this product will not last forever with multiple uses but so far, I have been able to use them for over several years or monsoon seasons. Recently with the approach of Hurricane Hilary, I purchased another one just in case but did not need to deploy. So, I have one now in reserve. The product is very easy to use, and I am impressed with how well it absorbs the water. For my use it is perfect and happy with its performance.
