Versatility
This is the most wonderful tool in my garden bench. Around my home are many stones and rocks. This tool is extremely sturdy and performs strongly when digging and removing stones, cutting underground roots and breaking up dry dirt. The appearance can look intimidating as it's made with a stainless-steel dual-edged blade, as well as an extended dual-cut serrated edge, a built-in twine-cutting notch and depth markers, a bright orange composite handle with a wide guard, and a large diameter hook opening in the handle. This is my most used tool for gardening.

Great yard tool
Never had one of these yard tools, and now can’t live without it! It’s great for cutting roots when removing dead plants from pots, and digging out weeds. Well made and sturdy, I like the graduations on the blade, and the handle fits just right. Very happy with this purchase.

I don't know how I lived without this tool before now
This is a great product. It has a nice weight, nice feel to it. It's sharp and cuts through roots and dense soil very well. I'm not sure how I have gotten along without it before! I have used it to remove big clumps of crab grass and to dig out burdock and dandelion. I used it to cut swaths of creeping Charlie out of the garden, too, and it made the task go much more quickly. It's also great for getting out weeds between stones in pathways. I also used it to cut through the cardboard sheets I'm using as weed block so I can plant through it, and it made short work of that cardboard cutting! It has fast become my favorite tool! I wear leather gloves when I use it because it really is sharp. I love that one side is serrated and one is not. I do suggest you get the leather sheath with it. I am using a sheath not made for it, and it doesn't fit quite right. Overall, this is a versatile, handy tool, well worth the price.

Favorite of professional landscapers/gardeners
I've read reviews by other professional gardeners and landscapers and can really only reiterate. I used an A.M. Leonard soil knife (the classic model) working for a landscaping company for 3 years (and it probably wasn't new when I got it). When I left landscaping, I could no longer enter my backyard without wishing I still had it.Such a sturdy digger/pryer. I do recall feeling it start to bend one time, but I don't remember which completely stupid misuse I was trying at the time. Perhaps stuffing a rock under it as a fulcrum and stepping or jumping on it to pull up a wood form around concrete--that kind of stupid. I also saw plenty of dirty A.M. soil knives, knives at the bottom of toolboxes exposed to the elements, but no terribly rusty ones.My old classic model one wasn't great for cutting, I always carried a razor knife and pruners for cutting. However the deluxe model I bought for home use cuts much better. Maybe due to it being new, but the serrated side seems way better than I remember on the old classic. I even use it like a machete (the serrated side surprisingly) to chop up non-woody plants.I don't care for the twine cutting notch in this deluxe model (I've cut myself on it several times and twine zero times--besides the serrated side can cut twine). I could grind that dull, if I really wanted it gone. The inch markings are nice too have.

The perfect garden tool
This knife is the perfect garden tool. The quality is great and the design of it makes it easy to use. I like the feel of the grip and it works great cutting small roots.

Couldn’t ask for a better one
This is my second one, I ordered this one as the first one doesn’t have the measurements on it. The measurements make it a just a little more convenient and adds to the overall utility. The serrated side is sharp and makes it easy to cut weeds and vines. It fits great in my hand, and is a comfortable weight. I like that the handle is orange as I’m prone to losing it and makes it easier to find. It’s built well and is a good value for the money.
