Makita RP0900K 1-1/4 HP* Plunge Router

Great product. Another reviewer noted difficulty with the plunge sticking. No problem with mine. The router operates smoothly with no excessive vibration. Fairly light and will be used on small furniture and cabinets. I've had a fixed based Makita router for over 25 years. Recently had to replace the cord due to dry rot, but otherwise functions well. So I expect to get many years of use out of this router.

This is a great medium horsepower plunge router. I have owned four of these since 1991. And they all still run.My only complaint is that it doesn’t have a fast acting brake, although it seems much quicker stopping than the old ones without the brake.I build custom guitars.

I purchased this unit to replace my old one of similar design. It lasted 24 years. Purchased in October week. Before are wedding. I own a custom cabinet shop so the tools needless to say get used daily. I've ordered two more with the dust collection attachments. More the shipping was shocking. Placed the order mid morning Saturday thinking maybe Monday. Sunday morning it was on my front porch.Thanks

This would have been a 5-star review but...Like all products, defects happen. Makita is my favorite brand of power tool, I just happened to get a bad one. The vertical shafts were loose and getting more loose with each use. MaxTool was wonderful handling the return.I knew it didn't have softstart but did not expect it to twist so much on startup.

Nice and sturdy, but larger than I expected. I was hoping to match the smaller one I had, but no problem. I'm keeping it

I got this router from my husband for Christmas. I had had it on my Amazon wish list for some time. It's a great tool and I only want it for basic stuff - so no dramas there. My issue with the tool is the very poor instruction manual.The tool came with two collet sleeves and three 1/4" shank router bits but there is nothing in the manual about how the sleeve fits into the collet or how to position the bit or anything. I had to do alot of research to find out the correct way to use the collet sleeves and insert the router bit safely as - obviously - with a lump of metal spinning round at God-knows-what speed - the last thing I need is it falling out and spinning off into my leg or face or some such.

This is a nice light weight router for door or other hardware mortising. It is missing the led light that is present on other makita tools which is a drawback. I have also not been able to locate the dust port accessory that is offered as no one at makita can give me a proper answer for availability...slightly annoying to offer an accesory and then not be able to tell the customer how to get it. Overall performs as stated and plunges nicely and good speed of bit rotation although 24k rpm may control heat better on any bigger mortising bits. Nice tool!
