Solar Eclipse Glasses (Pack of 5) CE & ISO Certified

We've used this product before, during the annular eclipse near Susanville, CA (May 2012). They work well, give a pleasing orange sun, and yes, we can still see with our eyes. Our eyes received absolutely no damage. Unlike other filters, these do not limit the viewing time. Another set we used to have from another compnay had a 10 second recommended limit! For safety, we threw those away. Remember, that any visual filter is not sufficient when used with a telescope! The dim light which passes through the filter is magnified, and still is dangerous. This filter does work well in front of a little digital camera, however.

We used these to view the total eclipse, and they worked great. I have plenty left over for solar observations.

I used these solar eclipse glasses to view the recent transit of Mercury in front of the Sun. I had to go through three pairs, out of the 5-pair pack, to find a pair of glasses that did not have pinhole leaks. Had I used the deficient pairs of solar eclipse glasses for any length of time, my eyes could have been damaged by the intense glare of the Sun.These glasses are cheap, but what is their true worth if, by using them to view the Sun, you eyes become damaged in the process?To get ready for the 2017 total solar eclipse event, I bought a pair of wrap-around plastic eclipse viewing glasses from another company (I don't believe Amazon will let me state the name of the competing company in this review). They cost two or three times as much, but they work great and have no pinhole leaks or other defects. Buy them instead.

These are economy eclipse glasses and appear to be meet specifications and be fine for the price. But Amazon folded them through one of the lenses in order to fit them into a small envelope. A fold along the earpiece would have been fine. But where the fold was made, it has permanently distorted the left lens on the whole stack of five glasses. I reported a delivery issue and have been offered a replacement, but there was no place to enter any comments to describe the problem. I can only hope that the replacement is handled better.

Was able to witness a once in a lifetime event.
