If you keep the cards together with elastic bands, and separate out the various pieces and put them into bags, the after-game cleaning process will go smoothly, making future games easier to set up. Otherwise throw everything into the box. If you mean how easy it is to give it a wash or a dusting:1. don't get wet. 2. Keep in box and it will not get dusty, removing the need to clean it :)

Does this game have mafic or curses?

There are "curses" and one of the playable campaigns deals with exorcising the island. If by "mafic" you mean "magic" then in a sense yes- some pagan elements are found in the game.

This says age 14+ but then it also says age 8+. Which is accurate? Would this be appropriate for an 8 year old?

I would say 12+, possibly as low as 10 if the 10 year old is very familiar with board gaming. This game can easily become unwinnable with only a few non strategic choices.
