Fermat’s Last Theorem

A beautiful story, a beautiful mind
I bought this book to read to kid, who loves math. This is a full story of Prof. Andrew Wiles and his 8 years' long journey to solve the hardest problem, Fermat's Last Theorem. The story is intriguing. Sometimes, background stories are developed around the problem, including Fermat himself, Taniyama–Shimura who provides a key link. From this book, you don't expect to learn the real technique used to solve the problem, but I get a very brief idea of connecting E-series with M-series, and every elliptic equation has a modular form. That is enough to serve the curiosity. It was such a journal through several months of reading in bedtime. When we finished it and closed the last page, we got smiling, and our minds are finally "at rest" (quote the last words of the book).

Very good book
It is a very intriguing book. It actually made me challenge myself regarding the various unsolved historical equations. It talks about a lot of mathematical legends of the past and builds up a story behind the unsolved Fermat's theorem.
