Does what it claims.
Works great for amplifier testing. Will certainly need additional heat sinking if used for extended periods at high power. Works fine for me on amps up to 75 watts per channel with a small fan blowing on it.

Very well built
I use these as a dummy load on power amplifiers and receivers to test and troubleshoot them. It can take a,beating have fed 500 watts into, them they get very warm to slightly hot. But since they're rated for 200 watts not bad.

A must-have for the shop.
Absolutely perfect for the test bench! I have a pair of them connected to amplifiers that have been repaired.Quick response and shipment.

Excellent test loads in lieu of speakers
Outstanding Loads for full power testing of amplifiers... At 500 W they do get pretty warm...lol

For Solar Inverter projects
Summary: Sometimes you just need a big, heat sunk resistor, and this fits the fill nicely. It's 8 ohms, and rated to dissipate 200W, which is a lot of power!Observations: Nicely anodized aluminum heatsink, MARHYNCHUS has 300 products, and 25 are resistor related. Threaded rod ends for secure connections. Conclusion: At $14 for a single resistor, cost is about average, so rating this 4-stars (non-specialty).

Chunky housing, measures right
A Fluke 8012A bench DMM with the test leads manually zeroed to 0.00 says this RX24-type resistor is 8.01 ohms. A basic pocket DMM says it is 8.0 ohms (reads 8.4, and while shorting the test leads reads 0.4). Very good for a 5-percent J tolerance resistor at room temperature. The finish on the fins is clean and without burrs, and the predrilled holes make it simple to attach a big heatsink for handling continuous loads. There isn't any mention of inductive characteristics, so if you're using it for AC signal testing of electronic equipment like amplifiers, you might want to design and construct an appropriate snubber, Boucherot cell, or maybe even a more complex Zobel network.
