Does this get hard wired to the battery or does it plug into a lighter outlet?

The CPI2500W must be hard wired directly to the battery. The lighter outlet in any vehicle is not capable of suppling the CPI2500W with the current need to power the maximum 2500 Watt AC load. Lighter outlets or accessory outlets in vehicles are usually limited to around 125 Watts. When hard wiring the inverter directly to the vehicle battery pay attention to the wire gauge, wire terminations must be crimped and better yet - soldered for a good mechanical and electrical connection. Inline fuse or breaker is also recommended at the battery end and try to keep the wire length as short as possible to minimize Voltage drop in the wiring. Follow those suggestions and enjoy reliable inverter operation.

Yes, the Cobra 3000 Watt Power Inverter comes with a remote/on off controller. This remote is only included with this model. If you purchase another model, the remote is sold separately.

the CPI2500W is a modified sine wave power inverter.
