I plan to use this as a storage for rain water. It holds a good amount of water and is easy to clean. Rainwater has foreign matter in the as it comes off the roof. Periodic cleaning is necessary even if a bleach compound has been added,The lid has a good gasket seal all around the top which is easy to remove and replace. The metal clamp ring which holds the lid and gasket ring in place is sturdy and has a secure clamp which is effective against animal intruders.

I’m using mine as a dust collector, in anticipation of the vacuumed collapsing the barrel I built bands that support the sides from the inside. Please take note! The farther down the intelligence spectrum you get, the lower the satisfaction rate will be for any product. Even a gold bar will be reviewed as being way to heavy. This barrel is an excellent barrel for the needs of 99.9% of applications. I mean, just what can be wrong with the barrel it’s self? And if it’s an issue with shipping damage, slander the shipper on their site and leave the barrel unscathed. I got mine at a great price through Amazon and if I need another or if a friend needs a dust collector, I would buy this product again!Updated review section.I have now been using this barrel for quite some time. I have been very impressed with the wall thickness, the fit of the lid and in general the molded in structural strength designs. Like I said in previous review, I use mine for dust collecting as a cyclone separator. I have had to empty this barrel four times so far, accounting for 200 gallons of wood dust and chips. I’m running a two horse impeller dust collector and a 4” system. I have not measured the vacuum the barrel is subjected to, but the strength of this barrel is better than I expected. This thing will last me for the rest of my woodworking life! Very happy with the quality!

Thick barrel that I am using for a chicken watering system. Only small issue I have is the bottom isnt completely level, but the weight of the water and time will address that

This thing is great! Looks solid and well-built, and seals watertight. Much lighter than a steel drum. I am using it with an electric drum pump I also purchased in order to be able to empty my CNC machine's coolant tank. This allows me to be able to clean the tank out and replace the fluid. I put mine on a drum dolly so I can temporarily move it around my shop - even when it is full. I can also fill it with water and then pump the water back into my coolant tank, or pump straight from the drum into my waste disposal drum when I need to. This drum is perfect. Having the two holes in the lid is really helpful as my pump mounts directly to the drum. I use the second hole to allow air in and out, and so I can see the fill level. Thishis going to be great to have around my shop. My only regret is that I did not make this purchase years ago!

I got this barrel for emergency water storage. It sits in the basement upright so I dont know if the ring clamp is water tight or not. The barrel is a good thickness and the ring clamp lid is convenient for cleaning. Over all the barrel performs as expected and is of solid quality.

If you were looking for a airtight or watertight container for storage, this is well worth your money. I own two of these barrels and I have found them to be extremely strong yet lightweight. They have a nice snap ring that locks them in place and bung plugs that make the whole unit air tight. I use them for water storage for my garden. The only downside that I can say is that since the top is white it lets in a small amount of the Sun's light. That can lead possibly to algae growth in the long run. The barrel that I leave in the Sun I just cover with a piece of shade cloth and that took care of the problem. The barrels are well worth the money and you should receive several years of good quality service from them.
