Broke me out before seeing any benefits
Wish I could keep taking it for all of the proposed benefits, but this started breaking me out before I could see any of them come to fruition. Was a waste of money for me.

Good alternative to Nordic Naturals
When it comes to fish oil, I had been consuming Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega for quite some time until exploring quality alternatives that provide a better price point. A lot of different opinions exist as to how much and at what ratio EPA and DHA should be consumed daily, so fish oil supplements are typically differentiated by these attributes, as well as the types of fish used and how these are processed. The aforementioned Nordic Naturals product uses a 1.44:1 EPA to DHA ratio, and contains other Omega-3s not providing either of these, and this product from VitaMedica uses a 2:1 EPA to DHA ratio for 75% of the content. While the Nordic Naturals product is created from anchovies and sardines, according to the VitaMedica website this product is created solely from "select Peruvian and Chilean anchovy species", although VitaMedica states in the Q&A here that it "usually comes from oily fish such as anchovy and mackerel". Since EPA to DHA ratio recommendations are all over the map, my choice of which product to use will largely come down to cost. Unfortunately, the quantity of fish oil per capsule for these two products also differs, so in order to compare costs a common denominator needs to be used. At current Amazon prices, Nordic Naturals costs about $0.06 per 100mg, and VitaMedica costs about $.08 per 100mg, which means the cost for each of these is approximately the same, although I'm seeing that the VitaMedica website is currently offering this product at $.06 per 100mg (a $10 discount per bottle). However, Nordic Naturals capsules are 640mg each whereas VitaMedica capsules are 1000mg each, so Nordic Naturals enables consumption in smaller increments if desired, which can be seen as a benefit. Nordic Naturals additionally claims a "great lemon taste", but capsules are intended to be consumed whole, not broken apart, so it doesn't seem like this would provide any benefit. The bottom line is that VitaMedica appears to provide a good alternative to Nordic Naturals.

An average Omega 3 fish oil supplement that is extremely overpriced
About four months ago, I was offered a free bottle of VitaMedica Super EPA & DHA Fish Oil for review via the Amazon Vine Program, and I accepted.I have been taking fish oil supplements for at least twenty years now. They are, without a doubt in my mind, one of THE best things you can take to improve your physical, mental and brain health. If you've never taken fish oil before, you don't know what you're missing. Omega 3 is fuel for the brain. It helps you think clearly, it helps you cope, it helps you relax. Our bodies were apparently designed for it. If you're not taking a good Omega 3 supplement, you are not able be the best person you could be. Yeah, I said that. Because it's true.Over the years, Omega 3 supplements have evolved and some are clearly superior to others. My current favorite is Viva Naturals Triple Strength Omega 3 Fish Oil. Why? Because it contains the highest concentration of Omega 3 fatty acids that I've found. When you buy an Omega 3 fish oil supplement, you'll see claims of various amounts of "fish oil," but what you're looking for is the concentration of Omega 3 in that fish oil. For example, if a label says "contains 1000mg of fish oil," how much of that is actually Omega 3 fish oil? It may be a really low amount. That 1000mg of fish oil may only contain 500mg of Omega 3. I'm being very simplistic here, but there are other things in straight fish oil that are not desirable, like impurities, metals and other fatty acids such as Omega 6 fatty acids - that you don't want. You're specifically looking for high concentrations of Omega 3. Viva Naturals contains greater than 90% Omega 3 fatty acids. That is a very high percentage. That, plus constant certified testing by the IFOS for purity and potency is what you're looking for in the best Omega 3 Fish Oil supplements.Getting back to this review for VitaMedica Super EPA & DHA Fish Oil... The VitaMedica softgels contain only a 75% concentration of Omega 3 fatty acids, which is... average. And, compared with the Viva Naturals (90% Omega 3), the VitaMedica is *extremely* overpriced. Just going by the regular price (outside of Subscribe and Save), the Viva Naturals contains 180, 1000mg net Omega 3 per softgel softgels for $40. This VitaMedica contains only 60, 750mg net Omega 3 per softgel softgels for $40. That is about THREE TIMES the cost of the Viva Naturals for an inferior product. Remember, these VitaMedica have a much lower concentration of Omega 3 per softgel (75% vs 90%)) when compared with the Viva Naturals. Given that information, there is no way I could possibly recommend these over the Viva Naturals. In summary, this is an average Omega 3 fish oil supplement that is extremely overpriced when compared with the superior Viva Naturals Triple Strength Omega 3 Fish Oil.
