Holds up to heat.
Despite looking and feeling like it's fragile, I've poured hot grease straight from the pan into this vessel without it breaking or cracking. The glass is thin and I doubt it will put up with much abuse. But with proper care, it's held up to heavy use so far.I really like the large, 4 cup capacity.

Very helpful
Ordered that to help streamline the clean up for my bone broth. It works great. Seems delicate, but handles heat well and we hand wash it carefully and it appears to be holding up after a couple of uses.

Great for what it is
Not as great at separating my gravy as the plastic ones with the sealed gate at the bottom, but it's not plastic and can take heat, so that's why it's better. People complain in these reviews about it being fragile, but that's because they have never had any of the early Pyrex glassware like the Silex coffee pots, made of blown glass. All of that stuff was just as thin and it's only delicate if you bump it against harder things. I've smashed so much Pyrex in my sink which does not have any give to it, so I make sure this never bumps a sink and I"m fine. Borosilicate glass is always more fragile but resists shattering due to heat, so you can heat this over a fire and be fine. It won't shatter when hot gravy goes into it while it's cold, and that's the reason you buy this. Your thicker "Pyrex" is from after they switched to regular glass.

Perfect size, shape and weight. BUT IT BROKE - 11/5/2018 UPDATE 3/8/19 UPDATE #2
UPDATE 3/8/19Despite the initial break (The small crescent shaped break at the top rim near spout), I kept the separator as it was still functional. I used it yesterday and it cracked. I put it in the dishwasher to clean before photographing and when It came out of the dishwasher it had broken into two pieces. The glass is way too delicate in my opinion. I have another made in the US and it has lasted years, I had hoped this would be a worthy back up but it clearly failed.Update 11/5/2018:While I appreciated the light weight of the thin glass, it is fragile and after several uses, it somehow broke in the dishwasher. I deducted one star but perhaps should deduct more. I am not rough with my kitchenware and take great care and caution in their maintenance.Original review:Love this - it is lightweight/thin glass as other reviewers have mentioned but I'm not sure why that would be a negative - it makes for a lightweight strainer. The spout is low (some are too high and interfere with functionality). The double metal strainers are great for coarse vs fine straining capabilities. I find that I need to lift the gasket strainer to enable stock to pass through as it does create an airtight seal.

It really works
I used this for the first time with my Christmas turkey. I was very confused about the physics of it, but decided to try it any way because even though I didn't have a butterball turkey, I'd rubbed it with olive oil and there was a lot of fat from a 20 pound turkey. I poured the pan drippings into the strainer. I had to stop at one point and clear out the "debris." It was full to the brim. If you cook butterball turkeys, you will need a larger size or will have to watch careful and consider two batches.I let it sit for a few minutes and the "physics" became a apparent. The fat was on the top and juice I wanted for my gravy was on the bottom and part way up the spout. I had over a cup of useable pan drippings and about an equal amount of fat. There was NO fat in my gravy. Great product.

Holds a TON of gravy!
My husband and I have been looking for a gravy boat for quite some time, but never found one we liked in local stores. Amazon to the rescue! This is a beautiful large gravy boat, and does the job perfectly. With the bottom saucer, you don't have to worry about dripping, since the saucer catches it all. The bottom piece is attached, but the unit is still very easy to clean. I was worried about gravy getting in where the saucer attaches to the bowl, and there's actually a very nice open space to wipe down. The spoon is a bit small compared to the bowl, but that really isn't a problem. My only complaint is that there is a pin-sized black dot inside the glaze in the scoop of the ladle. I tried cleaning it for a while before realizing it was stained UNDER the glaze. Of course you can't see it when you're using it for gravy, but I still find myself scrubbing it and trying to wipe it away. It's just a tad annoying.Otherwise, it's a great dish!

Restaurant Quality
It’s a nice, clean looking white gravy boat that I purchased two of and have used now for my family Thanksgiving for 5 years. Beautiful and feels sturdy. Holds good amount of gravy too.
