So happy I finally got one of these for my garage. After much research I decided on this unit. I would have preferred only 30’ but couldn’t find one in 12/3. The installation of the mounting plate was very easy but I could only get two of the included screws into the ceiling stud, had to use drywall anchors for the other two holes, should still be strong enough to hold with out issues. Once mounted it just slides on then installed the included set screw and all done. As you can see I mounted it next to my garage door opener and used the existing outlet. I zip tied the excess cord to the opener mounting bracket. I then adjusted the main cord length to shorten the drop by unscrewing the ball stop and sliding it to my desired length. Everything works great just getting used to the locking mechanism when pulling the cord out. It has three outlets that are lit showing it hot. Finally nice to not have to keep getting cords that I keep having to roll out and back by hand and I have more than enough length to use my portable saw table in my driveway. It has a one year warranty and hope it lasts well past that but for now I’m very satisfied. Time will tell as to longevity. Wish I could have found one made in USA not china but that wasn’t possible.

I bought this several months ago when setting up my shop. It hangs nicely from the ceiling retracts nicely holds firmly. It is a great product. I highly recommend it.

I mounted this in my ceiling to prevent having cords laying all over the garage floor. This works good, but I feel the retracting spring mechanism could be a little stronger. I've only had this in use for a couple of months, so I'm not sure how robust it is, but it does what it's supposed to do.

It looks like this is the first review. After looking at a lot of retractable systems, I decided to take a chance on an unreviewed one. I bought this to run various major power tools like a planer, table saw, and compound miter saw without overloading a lighter cord or damaging the tool. I like that it is UL listed, 12 gauge, and 15 amp. I am wary of the 40’ length with 15 amps, but we’ll see. The reeling mechanism seems really nice - as you pull it is alternates between clicking and not clicking - it locks if you stop pulling when it’s clicking, and retracts if you pull to a point where it’s not. The case is sturdy and the cord and connections all seem well made. The only drawback is the mount. It is solid, and I like it better in concept than the single screw eye models, but I had to mount it at an angle to center the system’s weight in the single rafter, since it wasn’t long or wide enough to hit two, and mounting it straight would have left half the weight off center. I considered putting a piece of 3/4” plywood across two rafters and mounting it between them, but I took the easier route. We’ll see how it works out. I’ll update the review if there is a significant change in performance.

We have a small 2 car garage we we do a lot of projects that use power tools. Table saw, miter saw etc. Most of the wall plugs are quite inconvenient. This saves time setting up an extension cord every time. So quick and easy to use. Retracts well.

The unit came on time and was in new condition. The recoil spring works well. I like the 3 female plug end on it. Mounts easily. I mounted on ceiling, but can be wall mounted. Mounting hardware is very heavy duty

Hard to buy something with so few reviews on Amazon but it had a very compelling features and no reasons to believe it wasn't the real deal based on the few purchases listed. This is a legit 3 conductor 12AWG power cable in what appears to be a well packaged reel mechanism. The mount is plenty strong and it does indeed swivel the full advertised 180°. It has a lit triple tap outlet on the business end and seems to be legitimately UL listed per the tags. The actual box is pretty questionable since I would have expected some UL markings there, too. The reel works great and the clicking is loud enough to hear but not annoying if you're moving around the shop/garage a lot. At 40ft I am struggling to reach some parts of my shop due to my placement but I have another one on the way to cover it. This is a great way to save time when you need to use those old school corded tools - not all of us have every 20V DeWalt gadget under the sun!5-stars and multiple examples purchased.
