Stabila 11901 Magnetic Pocket Level PRO with Holster Yellow

Stabila has a pretty good reputation. My daughters boyfriend is an electrician. Very useful for leveling metal outlet and switch boxes.

This is a really nice pocket sized level. I checked and it is accurate for both level and plumb. Perfect size for checking in tight quarters where you can't fit your torpedo. Bubble is easy to read. A bit pricy but it is a Stabila.The holster is a strange beast. When you use it on its own its perfect, the level clips in and is secure the locking clip has a positive snap to it. To remove a firm push gets it out. But if you clip it to your belt it makes the holster useless. You can not remove the level from the holster, if you try you will only end up pulling the holster off your belt. The locking clip is just a flexible tab and when you put it on a belt the belt pushes the tab forward making removing the level just about impossible. Since this is a magnetic level they should have just put a piece of metal on the bottom of the holster to secure the level in and not that janky clip they use.

There is something to be said about German tools, they put a lot of work into engineering tools that will last and meet the high standards of professional tradesmen. Stabila makes the best levels on the market, very accurate, very durable and often include very nice features not found on most levels. This little pocket level is very handy, while I don't really need its holster its a great way to keep it protected when not in use. Having a magnet on 2 adjoining sides makes this very handy for putting up electrical boxes and making sure they are level. Compared to a torpedo level this is smaller but offers much of the same utility.

I rarely write reviews, and most I write are for items that are horrible and cheaply made, which is a lot of items on Amazon. This item is not one of those. Made in Germany, this stabila level is incredibly well engineered and constructed. This might be one of the few high-quality products that I'm thoroughly impressed with that I purchased on Amazon. The bubble is embedded in clear acrylic and it's spot on. It's very compact and easy to carry around. Worth every penny and I may buy another.

The housing is made of plastic, not aluminum like the torpedo level. Not sure what I think of that, but otherwise a solid and very useful little level.

Most commercial levels are too inaccurate for my purposes. I was once in a big-box store shopping for a longer level. There were many, many choices back in the level section. I checked every level for accuracy, by reversing directions, and by stacking levels, looking for consistent and repeatable bubble positions. I had to leave the store empty handed, as not a single level was worth purchasing.I've since learned we can just order Stabila levels from Amazon and be nearly certain they will be accurate, as delivered. I now have Stabila levels in several different lengths, but I keep encountering tight situations where even my smallest Stabila, the 9'' torpedo, is too long to fit into the tight quarters.I went to Amazon looking for a shorter level and was surprised to see Stabila offers this tiny pocket level for around twenty dollars. I ordered the little level, wondering how much accuracy could be built into such a short level? For initial testing, I rested the short Stabila atop one of my longer Stabilas. I found that I could reach to the end of a 48'' level and lift the end just a sixteenth of an inch -- and the bubbles of both levels reacted in perfect unison. The pocket level is no less accurate than the 48'' level; it is just that the longer level can rest on the high spots and bridge the low spots, whereas the tiny level can only report on its one little spot.

Great for tight spots. People make fun of this little thing then ask me to use it all the time. It fits well on the walkie talkie clip on a high vis vest so it’s always within reach.
