Amazing price for great quality/art material. Usually art materials are EXPENSIVE. I’m an art student in college. As a senior, I’ve spent my fair share on art supplies. These were the cheapest I have ever paid for and you get so many!! I ordered the set of 50. I wanted to order the original brand my dad had that I saw around the house and used growing up. Unfortunately, I couldn't find that box when I came home for Thanksgiving break. I drove back to school Sunday night and had class the very next morning. I finished my line drawing that morning and knew I would need to start coloring during my next class, which was Wednesday. I was able to get these with next day delivery (orders Monday during class, came Tuesday). FYI: I looked at a couple of pages of oil pastels and these were my ultimate choice for these reasons: 1. cheap cost but good quality; 2. Labeled as “Amazon’s choice;” 3. MOST importantly, it has the option for next day delivery which was not expensive at all. Most other sellers did not give that option. To digress, most online stores that say “next day delivery” charge like, a gazillion dollars. This was just a few extra dollars for next day. I wish they were a little bigger because after using one day on very large drawing almost half of one black stick is already gone. Plus side is that they provide 2 blacks and 2 whites!I’m deducting 2 stars from this review because unless you wrap the box in a tight rubber band, the cover will come off and you will find oil pastels spilt over in your backpack. I knew I should have rubberband it when I put it vertically in my pack pack, but I didn’t have an extra one. I am usually very careful (using ziplock bags and rubber bands on everything-pastel boxes, markers, pencils). I thought it would be okay just for the 10 minute walk to class. It was only when I went to move my backpack during class that I forgot and the thing spilt over. Luckily, I saw it right after it happened and they weren’t touching my backpack, they were still wedges between the box bottom and it’s lid. I was able to press the two pieces together and lift everything up in one fell swoop.

this drawing was used in combination of pentel and mont marte pastels. The face and cat were done with pentel. Pentel has a wider range of colors and the pastel layers “dry” fast ( compared to mon marte )which allows easier blending. The two brands aren’t super compatible blending wise unless you layer pentel first. The mont marte pastels are softer so when you try to draw on top of it with something harder like pentel you won’t get good results unless you wait for the layer to “dry”. The dress was done with mont marte because it wasn’t required to get as much detail from layering and the fact the pastels are larger so you’ll be able to cover more ground. The pentel pastels were useful for the detailed portions and areas that require a lot of layering. 100% recommend. The pastels break easily so I end up buying more product but the price point is very good. It’s fun to use I guess when there are no deadlines for art commissions.
