Mom loves it!
My mom loves this! She loves to embroider, but her hand was hurting with how hard she was holding the ring. She was so tense holding it, we took her for trays to make sure she didn't have a stress fracture (she didnt) but had to wear a brace for a week so she could use her walker without pain. This has allowed her to do what she loves and not put so much pressure on her hand that we think it's broken!

BEST QUALITY AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL
My husband bought this embroidery stand for me, as I am a beginner (only a few months) and didn't know what I needed. My first impression is the quality craftsmanship. It reminds me of the woodworking my father-in-law used to do for us. After using the stand for almost a week, I don't know how I embroidered without it. The stand is very versatile, leaving both hands free for tricky french knots, allowing for easy flipping to reach the back, and using one clamp for the hoop and the other clamp for the pattern or phone.I highly recommend this high quality, functional stand.

Don’t lose any of the pieces
Take this right out of the box and assemble to make sure you have all the pieces. Mine did.Used this stand for an embroidery project that took about 3 weeks of daily use. It is a hand saver. Used a 10” hoop. Clamp down the hoop. Leave the knobs that rotate the hoop a little loose so you can check the underside, then quickly turn it back to right side up and keep embroidering. Was able to embroider with one hand free to check the bottom for knots and get them untangled before continuing.

It's great once you get it set up.
Your biggest struggle is figuring out the right distance to set the arms apart to fit your hoop. It will take large hoops - I have a 14" hoop set up in mine right now, and there's about one inch to spare, so that should give you an idea for the maximum it will take. When you find the perfect spot, make sure to mark it on the stand somehow so that the next time you switch out between hoops, you'll know where to set your arms.Note: the instructions have photos but are minimal. The SHORT screws are what attach the arms to the base. The LONG screws are used to help add pressure on the back of the clamps. I think they should have added some sort of metal plate to the clamp where the screws push against bare wood, because the wood will wear down with use. You may want to modify this for yourself in some way.IF you use smaller hoops, you should be able to flip your work without moving the stand around. If the reason you intended to get this was to take larger hoops, be aware that the stand is too short to flip a larger hoop. It's the perfect height for working at a desk however, so just realize that you will need to turn the work around to see/access the back.It is very stable and secure, and not as wonky as it looks in the product image once it's set up. My guess is the product image didn't have the arms fully secured. The wood is mostly unfinished except for the top of the base, but it's well sanded and smooth - this is a benefit if you were intending to paint/bedazzle it like one of the reviewers did here. Here are the issues I have with mine, and I would've given 3.5 stars if I could knock down half a star:The base I received is slightly warped, so even on a flat desk it wobbles a bit. Having one of the corners propped up on a rag stops it from wobbling. I would expect a desk-top product to be able to sit flat on a flat surface. Also, some of the screws had rust on them. It didn't affect the ability to use them. These issues simply point to a lack of quality checks and/or mean the product had been sitting a while in a humid location for there to be rust on the screws. This may be why the base ended up a bit warped as well, who knows. It doesn't prevent me from using this base, but I just wanted you to be aware of this. I may try to figure out a more permanent way to fix the wobble, maybe with a chair felt pad in one of the corners.

Love it even more now - Adding washers makes it even better
It works fine as is! But I noticed that with the clamps closed they can shift a little which causes parts of the clamps to rub slightly (!) on the posts when accessing the back the hoop. I want butter smooth swiveling and added a small washer (similar in size to the ones that came with it) plus a ~ 1 1/4 fender washer to fix that. Works great now!Would recommend the stand though.Update 4/22/21I’m changing from 4 to 5 stars after using it for an entire embroidery project in a 9” hoop. Full disclosure, I had ordered this stand after I got so frustrated with another hoop stand at day 1 of that embroidery project that was ready to abandon the project. Working with the other stand wasn’t that sturdy, too much wobble for my liking, and to access the back at the angle I wanted (which was needed a lot because I made several mistakes) I had to take the hoop out of the other stand, then change the lighting and magnifier setup etc. which was all a royal pain and not my idea of stitching pleasure. Not with this! This stand is incredibly sturdy! Super easy and fast to access to the back, I don’t have to mess with light and magnifier. I have several high end stands for scroll frames, and the before mentioned other hoop stand. For me this is the missing link and a game changer for some projects. I love it and wish I had found and bought it sooner. Considering how much I have spent on other stands I don’t think this is overpriced and worth every penny.

Missing pieces
Arrived without screws to assemble the hoop stand. Absolutely useless.
