Durable over time, it alkalizes!
I have purchased quite a few water filtering pitchers over time. This one Is by far the best one of all of them . It's definitely not the largest of them, but I won't give it a bad rating based on its size. It's shape and size is actually one of the great things about it. If you're home is like mine, there's not a lot of room in the refrigerator to spare. Due to this pitcher's sleek design, it not only holds a decent amount of water, but it slides right in between whatever in the fridge. Now, to compare to some other pitchers, I bought this in March of 2016 and still use it today with not problems. I bought an Invigorated Living Premium Alkaline Water Pitcher Ionizer in May of 2016 because I noticed the water would turn almost bitter when the filter was ready to be replaced. Due to poor design, that pitcher lasted maybe a month. It broke simply by being full and grabbing it out of the fridge by the handle which snapped off and created a mess I didn't have time for. It turns out that all water filters result in unpleasant tasting water when the filter wears out. So, I came back to this. I have learned to notice as the filter is about ready to be changed by a slight difference in taste. You will actually get a whole lot of water per filter, unless you have visibly filthy water, then you need more then a pitcher. Anyways, the taste of the water is amazing and I'm getting a p.h. level of 10 consistently every time I change the filter. Buy this water pitcher and you will receive the benefits well filtered, healthy, alkaline water with quality that will last and last. Additional things to add; our tap water smells like chlorine, but not after going through this pitcher. The filters are easy to change, but to assure successful install and uninstall without damage, take out the part the filter sets in and set it down on the counter by itself before pressing it firmly in or pulling it out. The old instructions to the filters used to say to remove the stickers on the bottom, then run cold water through them for 2 minutes (set a timer), then install and fill the pitcher up 3 times and empty each time before water is ready to drink. That's to get loose sediment out of the filters, nothing to worry about. The new instructions say to submerge the filters, but whoever wrote that doesn't understand that filters are designed to work in one direction. Water (or gas, oil, ect for other filters) goes through one side to screen out whatever is being filtered, and clean on the other side. I suggest using the original instructions, otherwise the entire filter will be submerged in dirty water and you will end up either throwing away a filter. It's a great water pitcher and I highly recommend it!

The Alkaline Water Pitcher delivers!
I have used this product for a couple of days before posting this review. When I first purchased this item I did so because I understand ionization as I keep marine fishes and understand the basic chemistry of altering water ph properties however after waiting on its arrival I thought of reviewing it against peer products and saw some negative reviews of how alkaline water that is not properly processed can cause health concerns, this was from a company charging like 10 times the price of this product pitcher.Well I said let me compare their claims and so called health concerns, it just happened to be that this little pitcher not only compared well to the systems being sold by this company albeit at a much lesser volume of water processing, the other company explained how in nature truly healthful alkaline water is produced by running water being in contact with mineralized rocks to not only change the ph but also place mineralized properties to benefit the drinker of the water, guess what this pitcher does so as well, next it talked about proper sedimentary filtering, this pitcher does as well, next it talked against using electrolysis, this unit does not do that, it uses ionization and multi filtering stages.Do I believe alkaline water has all the benefits that are floating around the internet, nope, it is healthier to drink, yes, would I use it primarily, the jury is still out on that, the reason I am not really worrying is because in a health video, I learned how to use Celtic salt crystals as a companion to drinking 16 oz of water for all the 84 minerals and the magnesium which allows your cells to accept hydration at optimum levels, so I am not just depending on alkaline water I am getting my minerals elsewhere as well.I have a Pur water filter canister sitting on top of a water cooling unit, Pur has since stopped selling this canister and I take care of it like a family heirloom, and what I have done is this to fill The Alkaline Water Pitcher with water from the Pur unit so this is second stage filtering, I also completely fill the pitcher to let the water have optimum contact to filter as i learned from the other reviewers, what I get is just fantastic tasting water courtesy of family reviews and a recent guest.Have I tested the ph no, I have expensive liquid ph test kits for my fishes at home but i believe the other reviews maybe I will get around to it soon, meanwhile I am loving my purchase, caution hold on to the top when pouring out, I learned the hard way as the cover slid off while pouring.

This Pitcher is a Piece of Crap
I bought this pitcher 6 months ago so I feel like I've given it enough time to redeem itself, but it is utter crap.First, the description says "free filter included." Mine did not come with any filter which should have been my first clue. But I hate returning things and was willing it give it the benefit of the doubt and ordered the 4 pack of cartridges.Second, as others have stated, the cartridge does not sit snugly inside the reservoir. You can see water dribbling down the sides. I never tested the alkaline level of the water but I'm pretty sure even if the filter is effective, the water is not fully alkalized as a portion is clearly not going through the filter.Third, the little piece of the lid that flaps open to pour the water is not adequately attached to the lid and often detaches, falling on the floor, and requiring cleaning. I was certain i would eventually lose it. Also, I'm not sure if this is a problem with the flap or the hard angles of the spout, but pouring water out in any volume (a slow trickle or a fast pour) results in water spilling. I use a pretty wide mouth water bottle (one of those from Costco) and I would still spill. It was so bad my mom refused to use the pitcher after the first week. Finally, you must, I repeat, YOU MUST use two hands while pouring. The lid does not snap on and will come off if you only use one hand to pour and water will go absolutely everywhere. Conclusion: don't waste your money. While the water tastes fine (I was using purified water to begin with so I can't really say if it makes water taste better) it's just too much of a hassle to deal with.
