WE Games Folding Mancala - Solid Wood Board & Glass Stones 18 inches

My 10yo and 7yo kids have been talking about Mancala from playing it in their school classrooms. Naturally I thought it must be an educational game so I looked for it at Barnes and Noble. I decided to research it on Amazon because of reviews and The Barnes and Noble version has only clear stones and I wanted multicolored.This Mancala board by Wood Expressions seems to be of good heavy quality wood, is engraved "Made in USA" on the side, has smooth colored stones (of slightly varying sizes) with an 0ff-white drawstring storage bag, slightly rough interior wells(my daughter worried about getting a splinter but I know that's impossible), enclosed in nice packaging with instructions.The magnets holding it are fine IMO- yes they don't keep it tightly shut, but then again if it were any stronger then my kids would always be asking me for help to open it up.The wells can hold about 12 stones- no complaints from my kids about the wells too small nor problems with overflow.I would not hesitate to buy this again. My husband and I love playing it as much as our kids, esp since it's so easy to setup/clean up unlike Life/Monopoly and it's ideal for our ski trips. Great for gifting to other kids since it's a nice strategy game not requiring batteries/many parts to clean up.

My daughter's friend has a Mancala game that folds and they have been playing it all the time. This one here is beautiful. As other reviewers have noted, it is solid wood, it folds up, the magnets hold it together well, and the glass stones are quite pretty. While it is true that the cups do not hold too many stones at once, you can still play the game and it does not bother us. It is a portable version of Mancala and we have no complaints so far. All in all, this is such a fun and wonderful game!

I like this Mandala. It is smooth, sturdy and 'has all it's marbles'. I also has a small instruction sheet. I have not played it yet but am looking forward to trying it soon.

Conceptually, this is an extremely simple game to learn - pick a pot and move the glass beads, and try to get more than your opponent in your mancala before you empty all your pots. The devil of course, is in the detail: the strategy behind the came is what keeps this game from getting boring, as there are almost an infinite different possible games with wildly varying outcomes, so one game is never quite the same as the next.Construction is real wood, with solid glass beads in assorted colours. The game hinges closed and magnets inset into the wood keep it closed when not in use.

I bought this for my grandkids because they love playing it at my house. My board is all one piece so I was concerned about it folding in half and breaking. It closes with a magnet and keeps the marbles inside so they can take it with them. Excellent quality.

This game turned out to be pretty cool and somehow, managed to stay this way ever since I bought it. It does require a bit more of strategic thinking than it would seem from the beginning though...The case is well-made and quite durable and the hinges (I thought these would be the first to go) still work well after 5 months of almost daily use / abuse. It would be nice if the holes would be a bit deeper to fit more of those glass things in but I guess, it's OK as is for the money.Perfect for entertainment during long trips or just a quick game at home.

Wonderful, well-made, quality product. The wood it nice and the glass beads are nice too, though nothing special (and easily replaceable at any craft shop you can find these). Fun and simple game, though not so simple to win! Challenging enough for older, smarter kids (10+) but rules easy enough for younger kids to learn and enjoy as well (5+). But, the game is great for all ages!

This is a great product. I did see one just like it for a lot less. It would be better if it had a latch instead of magnets holding it closed. I just plan to keep it in the box so I don't have to go chasing the stones (which are very nice by the way) around when it comes open.
