Excellent!
I purchased this cat back system two years ago when my original exhaust was showing sign of failure. I wanted a stainless steel cat back but the high price for an old vehicle didn't make sense to me. Since the original exhaust wasn't leaking I put off the installation but I finally decided to take the plunge this past weekend.Removal of the original exhaust was the hardest part but a sawzall and a Dremel with a cut off wheel helped. The system fit my 1999 Cherokee like a glove and I too didn't need the flange adapter that comes with the kit. Leave the clamps loose until you align everything and then tighten them down from the cat back. For extra piece of mind I pinned the muffler-to-cat and tail pipe-to-muffler connections with a stainless screw to keep things from turning or sliding off. My biggest concern is having to replace the exhaust every two years due to rust but a previous poster made it five years which sounds good to me.The exhaust has a nice 'deep' tone to it without it being loud or obnoxious and it doesn't drone at all. The whole system comes in one large box. The muffler is in a separate box in the box and all of the clamps, a hanger/clamp, and a flange adapter are included. The tailpipe has a hanger welded on near the muffler and a chrome tip which isn't show quality but more than I expected. Be careful around the chrome tip though. the outer edge was roughly ground and rather sharp to the touch. I took care of that with my Dremel.I am pleased with the quality for the price and it fit exactly like the original OEM exhaust with no modifications.EDIT 10/2013I have had this system on my Jeep Cherokee (XJ) for three years and like another reviewer, my muffler around the front edge of the rolled seam is rusting away and starting to leak. My tailpipe is starting to rust along the seam and I painted the muffler and tailpipe with high heat paint (several coats) before installing it. Not a bad price but not such a bargain for only three years of life. Life in the salt belt (NJ) I guess. Time to invest in stainless steel...

A LOT quieter than my old exhaust
Would have given 5 stars but my original order was missing the MUFFLER and ADAPTER! Not to mention there aren’t any instructions… the listing doesn’t show this but you get the muffler, tailpipe, adapter flange, 3 exhaust clamps and 1 exhaust clamp/hanger. The return to Amazon was easy and painless, then I reordered and got everything it was suppose to come with. It fits good. I have an 01 XJ, the previous owner cut the flange off of the cat so I had to modify a section of the old pipe to fit this exhaust. I also did not use the rear clamp on exhaust hanger because my stock hanger rusted off the jeep…. I went to the parts store and pick up a universal one that had a flat bar with about 6 holes in it, bent it, cut to length, then bolted up to where my bumper tie in brackets are. If you don’t have an aftermarket bumper with tie in brackets or a hitch receiver you may not have a bolt there (if your exhaust hanger is rusted away like mine was) FYI. Highly recommend for the price, just put it on today so I don’t know how long it will last.

I really like the tone at idle
Fits perfectly. Suprisingly, I was able to cut the clamps off the old muffler and slide it off. Slid this muffler on and the attached the tailpipe, attached to the hangers and tightened everything up.NOTE: When I purchased this, description noted you needed to purchase an additional hanger. I did not need this, that hanger was included in the kit, so I returned the extra one I bought separately. FYI.As far as performance/sound, it is quite a bit louder than stock. I did buy this to replace a rusted out system that had a hole just aft of the muffler. So how much louder is hard for me to say because I drove my XJ for two months with it really loud so this was much quieter than that. If want something similar to stock this could be a little too loud for you. Check out some of the videos on youtube of XJs with this setup. I really like the tone at idle, nice sound for an inline 6. Again because I had a hole in the tailpipe, the metal had bent and was restricting exhaust flow. So I gained a considerable amount of throttle response with this, but I was very much below stock performance levels to begin with. Again how much better than stock, hard to say exactly but I think even replace a stock system you will see performance gains. I definitely think it is worth this price over stock exhaust components and should last as long as anything not stainless steel. My system did have a slight burning smell for about the first 6-8 weeks after installation. Mostly the oils and coatings used it manufacturing burning off. It also doesn't help that there is a sticker on the tailpipe near the tip that I didn't remove and it kind of smoldered a little when the exhaust was hot, oh well. Might want to remove that first...
