So far its a great tablet. Lots of bloatware, but...
So far its a great tablet. OTA update as soon as I powered up so at least it looks like there is some support for it still. I hope it's included in the monthly update program.Tablet is very thin and light and easy to hold. Screen is very bright and the resolution is very good. Coming from a "budget" tablet, this is definitely a huge step up. Pages flow smoothly with no lag. Programs pop up instantly without stuttering. I don't have to close out the apps in the multi-tasking switcher. Plenty of storage for apps and there is an SD card for basically unlimited storage with as cheap as SD cards are now.Samsung gives you an additional free 200 GB (!) on Microsoft One Drive for two years which is pretty awesome (that will probably be the norm by then). My only problem is all the bloat - I wish tablet makers would go the PC route and allow me to uninstall apps I don't want without having to root the tablet. Samsung's Touchwiz is pretty bloated too, but it is kind of useful. All in all, a great tablet for about $160.

DO NOT PURCHASE REFURBISHED FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!
DO NOT PURCHASE REFURBISHED FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! I purchased a refurbished Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8 inch tablet from this company in October, in March the charging port of the tablet is now dead and we are unable to charge the tablet. I was advised by Amazon Customer service to contact the seller. The seller told me the tablet was now out of warranty( 90days) and I would need to contact Samsung and see if they would repair. I did contact Samsung and began the process or repair, I was told the unit was warrantied and initiated the return. Upon returning the tablet, I was aware that my daughters screen was cracked, but did not think anything of it since all I was trying to do was get a charging port fixed and no one at Samsung inquired if there were any cosmetic defects etc. Well Samsung responded that it would cost 137.00 to repair the screen and they could not repair the charging port without first repairing the screen. So now I have a tablet that will not charge and stuck with a bill as high as the cost that I paid for said tablet just to get it to work. So I would advise not purchasing from this company anything refurbished because if something goes wrong after the 90 days, no one will help you. If I knew I was going to have to pay another 137.00 after less than 6 months of purchase I would have just paid regular price for a better quality product. So my suggestion is to steer clear of the REFURBISHED products from this seller. Because you will be out of additional money if there products breakdown after 90 days. Poor customer service from both Amazon and this seller.

As if it's brand new!
We have had this tablet for 8 months and it works just as the day we took it out of the package. The tab came packed tightly in a white, blank cardboard box. It was definitely not the original Samsung packaging as we expected but still looked professional and new. This was a present for a 12 year and she was thrilled and didn't even know it was refurbished. The tablet worked immediately right out of the box. We hooked my 12 year up in less than 5 minutes. The tablet has since performed as any Samsung product should. You would never know this wasn't a brand new tablet. We purchased a nice case off of Amazon for the tablet to extend it's life.We would highly recommend this product to anyone considering! Thank you for a top notch product.

Good Value, with a Few Caveats.
For a Samsung, this is a very good and inexpensive tablet. (Samsung doesn't produce many of these, at a reasonable price point). It's responsive, a good size, with a 4:3 aspect ratio that's often good for games and video. A couple of caveats: 1. At the time of this review, and with the updates, the OS is Android 5.0.2, months after Marshmallow has been released. To be fair though, I chose the Samsung over the ZenPad because ASUS almost never updates their tablets. (I speak from past personal experience). Samsung will update, I believe, although it's a slow process; 2. The 8 inch Mini-iPad dimensions mean that streaming videos in a 16:9 aspect ratio may well produce letterboxing. So, be aware; 3. This is not a good screen for reading, if you're going to use Amazon's Kindle e-book reader. Text is noticeably pixelated. On the plus side, the 128GB (Max) SD Card slot will allow you to load this tablet up with content, and the pre-teen who received it clearly loved it.
