Yo my wife caught a 10 lb Jack corvina fishing out back of my house with this small rod if your stream fishing this is the set up you want but if your gonna go ocean get the bigger one ...honestly people buy this combo I think the rod is small for me but perfect for her she's 5'2" so it's short ...I was using this reel on a 8 foot rod getting 50 meter/yard casts

Bought for my son and it's only been used a few times now. We just barely passed the replacement window for the pole and it snapped this morning abruptly! I have a heartbroken kid now. I keep trying to contact the seller but it won't allow me to do so. Very upsetting!!!Update: After seeing my post the company reached out to me directly and shipped my son a new rode immediately. So far this one is holding up nicely. Thank you replacing the rod for my son!!

Some people reviewed the rod broke first cast/fish.Some reviewed the reels handle fell off.I did not have either of these problems, but I can help try to address what went wrong:- Rod. The last segment of the rod bends WAY easier than all other segments, this puts most of the pressure on the smallest/skinniest segment. Mine hasn't broken after ~30min of use fishing for Bluegills.(What I like?) The rod is more compact than my other telescoping rods, this one fits entirely INSIDE my backpack, instead of sticking out and getting line caught in the zipper.(What I dis-like?) Again, only the tip is bendy; it should be made of the same material as the other segments. When you have weight or a big fish on, the rod ideally should be a uniform bend, not rigid until you get to the tip lol- Reel. I actually LOVE this reel, I think a negative review was written out of ignorance not knowing how to attach it to the rod, or they didn't tighten the handle firmly. Mine worked just fine.(What I like?) The drag pulling sound is music to my ears; it's a nice crisp click. Also the reel looks very nice.(What I dis-like?) The reels line guide has a large circumference, so the line gets manipulated in a larger circle when spooling back onto the spool. This could be avoided by manufacturing the circumference to be smaller, or by making the first segment of the ROD farther away from the reel. I noticed some bouncy vibration due to the line contacting the first eyelet of the rod.Good purchase overall, if the rod breaks I'll still be happy saving the reel for another rod.

For 50 bucks this is quite the nice high quality fishing rod The reel is buttery smooth and once you have it fully extended it feels surprisingly strong. You're just doing some fresh water fishing more than likely you won't be coming across any fish this rod won'thandle

This thing is nice but broke like I said right after the return date and I asked about if anyone has experience this i buy another on here and I'm paying on things that broke and it's getting really ridiculous. I'm really about to start making a claim or something.

This combo is surprisingly tough! I purchased this as a backup combo to carry on my tractor around the farm. It came loose and I ran over it with the back wheel of the tractor. It was in mud be still works perfectly with a few minor dings.

Extending this fully can result in the pole being incredibly hard, (and to my experience impossible so far) to fully collapse again. The last link won't collapse, even after a lubricant has been applied.Some tension locks that can be unlocked deliberately would be better, like quick locks on bicycles or picatinney rails.Also there's no good way to ensure the reel stays connected. The nut locking it into place moves with the slightest inclination, so you'll be adjusting it constantly.This pole has good flex for a collapsible, but it can be a pain and there's a lot of room for improvement.

I liked the portability and sensitivity of the rod as well as the smoothness and appearance of the reel. Nothing too fancy but a good combo for backpacking and keeping in your car, just in case. All in all I felt like it was a good bargain for what you get!
