I'm using a relatively small spare bedroom as home gym and recently picked up my audio listening passion again. Due to lack of space in the living room or pretty much anywhere else in the home, this room will now take on double duty as home gym and also hifi listening room. I have a vintage Onkyo amp and separate pre-amp (M-504, P-304) and after 40 years, treated myself to new speakers from Monitor Audio, the Silver 500 7g. I built my first speakers together with my father in the 1980's but found them a bit harsh in the mid and upper frequencies in this room. So I had enormous, if perhaps unrealistic expectations on how these high-end MA's would sound, but I was ultimately disappointed because the sound was muddled with lots of resonances and boomy bass. Mids where all over the place and voices had no center stage placement whatsoever. Basically the entire sound stage was a big mess.Now here is the thing, when you clap your hands in the room, you hear it echo and bounce off the walls, ceiling and floor, so I knew I had to do something about room treatment, after all, the room is bare with just some thin curtains and nothing else. Well, it's a gym, what else to expect?So I did a lot of reading and mostly Youtube university tutorials about creating listening rooms. There are many options on Amazon, especially the affordable and cool looking wall treatment that doubles as art work and sound dampening. Mostly these cheaper options would not help with a muffled sound with boomy bass. Lower frequencies are not attenuated by thin foam solutions. The thicker ones (2 inches for example) were quite expensive but I decided to pick up 4 of these boards and started experimenting with placement, before finalizing the speaker and panel setup.I made recording with my cellphone in a perfect triangle position with the speakers, before and after adding the boards and the difference in sound quality and instrument / voice placement was amazing. Also clapping my hands no longer resulted in echo, but rather a dry clap with minimal reflections. The resulting impact on music was that the boomy bass now sounded dryer and more defined. Lower mids now had substance and actual placement in the sound stage and were no longer muddled. Highs now had definition and also a much better position in the sound stage and the echo was gone here as well. So you could say that I'm really impressed with the difference these panels have made to the audio experience in my specific listening room. It is still a work in progress and I still need to optimize speaker and panel placement and probably install some panels in the back of the room where I'm sitting as well, including some ceiling treatment.I also ordered a set of thin (0.4") foam tiles but to my ear these don't do too much at all, so I will probably end up buying 4 more of these panels to further improve room accoustics.Music listening and setting up a listening space is a journey, lots of experimenting and fun within my specific budget. I can only say that I have been pleasantly surprised with how good my new speakers can sound after making improvements to room treatment. Based on my personal experience, two thumbs up. It also helps that these panels feel like quality products, have a good heft to them and quality fabric.

Using 4 of these on a wall, and the VIZIO - Elevate SE 5.1.2 sound system in front of them, these panels really absorb sound well. It's not perfect, as a subwoofer will still transfer sound through the floor it's placed on, but other than bass, it nullifies almost everything, at a moderately loud sound at that.Pros:Each panel comes with a certificate of manufacture date, and other information.The giant paper outline that came with is a life saver for installation.They work very well when placed on the floor with no mounting, but not as good as when mounted.Plenty of extra mounting hardware, just in case!Cons:Hair and dust seems to be attracted to the fabric of these panels.Completely DIY installation. I think it's a pro, but some may think poorly of physical labor.

The media could not be loaded. These panels are lightweight and well-built. The shipping was way faster than I expected. All the included hardware and full size mounting template made putting up the 16 panels I purchased a breeze.

I just got my ATS acoustic panel today and I'm super happy with it. There is a bunch no name out there, but skip that stuff and get this. ATS is a legitimate sound treatment company. The panel arrived perfectly packaged in a sturdy box and sealed in plastic bag. The panel is super simple, but the materials are quality and it's assembled in USA (It's even signed and dated by the tech that put it together). It looks extremely good, and cuts my room reflections down a bunch. If you want a simple, affordable, quality made, acoustic panel... this is the one to get. It came with industry standard mounting hardware as well. A bunch of colors and sizes available. I'll definitely be back for more.Thanks!

I haven't checked actual decibel levels yet but these panels seem well made and do the job as advertised.

1) Yes, you probably can build one yourself for less, but it won't be worth it. Because of the time you need to spend and you have to buy the materials in bulk, which will drive up the total cost and by the time you're done, you may easily have left over materials. This is about $70 a panel, it just makes financial sense to buy it then make your own.2) Great quality, what you don't see in the picture is that behind the panel, it's a piece of plywood, thin, but wood nevertheless. And because it's thin, it keeps the weight down.3) Weights very little, which is great, because who wants to hang heavy stuff on the wall?4) Performance is great, does what it supposed to do. My listening to shape is really bad, these panels made a huge difference.5) So I ordered two panels, one of them was a bit warped, I emailed ATS, and they sent me a new one in a few days. Great customer service.I highly recommend these panels.

You will always have a happy customer who returns time after time when you have excellent customer service when things go awry.You cannot go wrong dealing with ATS. They have acoustical products for every solution, and if you mess up, you don't have to worry about the problem being solved.Next up, bass traps!

I like these acoustic panels because they don't look like those typical foam square panels. Some advice is to space them out according to the size of the wall. Take the length of the wall and subtract the total width of the panels. Then divide by the number of spaces on each side of the panels which in my picture is three. That will give you your spacing/gap you should have between each of them. I only installed three so far. I have three more to go and I already noticed a difference with the reverb/echo.
