IRWIN VISE-GRIP Pliers Set, Slip Joint, 8-Inch (2078408)

My 2nd pair of these Irwin's. They're sturdy with good handles. This version strikes the balance between light enough to use one-handed, agile enough to use for a small target like pulling a nail, but large enough to usually save me having to go get a wrench.For my adult male (L/XL glove size) hands, larger than this 8" model is awkward, but 6" usually doesn't provide sufficient leverage. So the 8 is just right.My older pair of these are coming up on 3 years old and show no signs of aging (handles still look great).I find I use blunt-nosed pliers a lot more than one would expect for how infrequently they show up in tool-kits. For home DIY and minor repairs I use them a lot more than my needle-nosed AND more than my basic wrenches combined.Irwin has become one of my trusted brands (well-made and reasonably priced). These are Highly Recommended.

I bough a very cheap one a while ago and I can see the difference in quality. Alignment is good and I feel more assurance it won't break on me.

These were purchased for my tractor tool box. Many times 6" pliers just won't get the job done. I like Irwin tools in other applications, so I decided to try their slip joint pliers. The pliers did not disappoint. I consider them a "top line" home owners' tool. Being in a tractor tool box, they are always subject to being lost or misplaced. If that happens, I will replace them with the same Irwin pliers; and , I can do so without breaking the bank. These pliers are an excellent value and have led to me expanding the line of Irwin tools that are found in my shop and tool boxes.
