This was the most disapointing gift i ever purchased,for a train enthousiast.absolute garbage.embarassing.so much so i did not give this as a gift.I passed a hundred dollars to him in a card and statedhe would be better served using his own expertise expertise as i was haveing ahard time finding a crossing that would meet his needs.PS when they went home i gave them to my four year old.GARBAGE AS CHEAP AS THEY COULD POSSIBLE BE.NEVER AGAIN,AND FROM BACHMANN THE NUMBER ONE NAME IN TRAINS.WITH PRODUCT LIKE THAT. Nice looking crossing gates for my n-scale train layout. The complaints about kids breaking them and being small are because these people didn’t read the description well. These are for electric train hobbyists, not for kids toy trains which are much larger.

These track crossings look really nice with the n-scale set I bought for my son. However, if you are buying them for a child...even and older one, keep in mind that they are EXTREMELY fragile. The first sign snapped off the very first day we got it, the second one snapped of 2 days later. I super glued them back together but they broke again in a different place. Ended up replacing the pole part of the sign with a piece of copper wire so it can't break. If they're for an adult, and you don't plan on moving them around much, it's probably fine. I would not recommend them for a child though.

If used with a tortoise switch motor, crossing gate circuit and detector, and an actuator cable, this can be used as an operating, slow motion crossing gate. Working flashers are sold separately from Model Power and NJ international. these ramps can be used with any grade crossing track. I used a Kato Road crossing track and replaced the Kato Ramps with these Bachmann crossing ramps. a shim (i.e. Styrene or n scale cork bed) may be required underneath the ramps to match the crossing height. A tiny drill bit is required to drill holes in the counterweight of each gate (marked with circles) for it to operate.

Fit layout very well and added a nice touch of real world look to project. Price was good for what it added to final look of the project.
