Great for the anxious dog!
I rarely write reviews, only when I truly appreciate an item, or if a product is all disappointing. While the idea of these scissors preventing you from cutting the nailbed of your pey is not as simple as advertised - the scissors themselves are still excellent. Cutting from all sides of a circle definitely makes it a more gentle experience for your pet, preventing my two dogs from getting skittish and pulling away as they typically would. The cutting is also silent which also helps. In order for these to work as advertised: "Cut the tip not the quick", you could only pick the size of scissors that is too small to cut enough, especially since some nails are thicker, cutting only the very tip on half or all the nails. That said, I still gladly give them 5 STARS for making it scissors as opposed to clippers, and for the handling/contr and quality of the cut. I highly recommend it for anxious dogs!Kudos to this idea of finally making scissors with an honest effort to make clipping safer and less stressful on our furry friends!

So perfect to cut above the blood line
We have a few different sizes from this brand for both of our little dogs and they work great. These clippers fit my small hand and my husband’s larger hand.

Wish I'd have ordered more than one size.
I took a really long time deciding which size to order and used a sizing card as well, ultimately opting for the Med 3mm for the young, very tiny maltipoo new to our home. However, this size was still too small for his nails. It DID work on two of them though and worked pretty well especially given that this little guy does NOT want his nails clipped. The design made it much easier on my arthritic, often numb hands. I was able to access the nails so much better grin the underside as opposed to with traditional cutters requiring positioning of the paw that my dogs don't agree with. I wasn't ready to try another size when I initially returned these but have decided now after trying again with the many other trimmers we have, that I'm going to order the L 3.5 mm for certain and maybe even the next size up for good measure. All in all, I do think these are going to work out for us and make my life immensely easier.

Cheap materials - ultimately a weak tool
5mm hole barely fits my dogs nails. Tool construction is just ok but the materials used seem to be on the inferior side and if the blades don’t try spreading apart during a snip then it’s because I’m using an even pressure around the entire tool while focusing on staying squared up on the nail. These would be fine for smaller dogs with softer nails but it feels like they’ll break pretty soon right around the vicinity of the spring in the handle where the metal portion of the snips comes to an end and the plastic handle material begins unless it develops the habit of spreading apart at the blades when attempting a cut. Also, I still don’t get the sizing of them. They make it seem as if there’s a wide range to the sizing that will cover the tiniest dogs up to the largest by labeling up to XXLarge but, no true. All in all, I might buy it for a small dog but I’d look elsewhere first just simply on the fact that the construction & materials feel weak.

The sizes are not accurate for the weight of the dog.
I ordered a size large as listed for a 20-40 pound dog. My dog is 15 pounds and I thought that sizing up would ensure the accurate hole size. The size large did not fit any of my dog's nails. He has normal Shih Tzu size nails. After some back and forth discussion with the seller and the misrepresentation of their product and sending them these pictures of my dog's nails in the sizing card holes, they agreed to send me a XXL clippers and a return envelope for the size L.Despite getting the new clippers and trying them out, I wouldn't recommend them. The conical shape of the steal hole blades on both sides of the clippers slightly pushes the nail out of the hole rather than cutting at the intended position. Additionally, the sharpness and quality just don't measure up to the $6 Miller's Forge basic nail clippers. I originally bought these for my Shih Tzu's difficult to cut double dewclaws. The expansion of regular clippers makes it difficult to access his dewclaws with his anatomy. I had hoped that these clippers would solve this problem. Frankly, these are just going in my grooming pile of lesser used tools. Just not effective enough for quick and clean nail trims.

So much easier
(Update) I have used similar clipper for cats and it makes nail time so much easer cause I know I wont go too far up the nail. Unfortunately the size is a little small for all of my dogs nails so I have to buy one size up. ( I still need an even bigger size. xl was still too small. The size chart was not accurate so for a teacup chihuahua I will end up needing an xxl? Definitely not meant for big dogs) However the seller is great and very understanding about the size issue so returns was a breeze. The clipper was a little stiff at first but after a few tries it loosened up. The material is well made and sturdy. Comfortable to use and can be used in left or right hands.

I've ordered this item twice and both times this size has failed ! Why?
I recommend Zen clippers to ALL my puppy buyers and All my dog friends. So far all of the clippers have been excellent - EXCEPT this lime green LARGE 4mm size - which keep braking after the first few nails that are clippedWHY IS THE QUALITY SO POOR FOR JUST THIS ITEM ???
