Buy it if you're thinking about it.
I almost don't even need to review this game. This is an outstanding multiplayer game. If you want to play a solo game, look elsewhere. This is one to get together friends and have fun. Kill monsters, kill your friends, get rich, upgrade characters, die, come back to life, do it again! This game is not a co-op, but an all against all. I describe it a lot like a board game version of the video game gauntlet. Each scenario you set up the board as it's shown in the manual, which can take a little bit of time because you need to look at the tiles and match the way they're turned, etc. Once you've done it once, setup is a breeze each time after, like maybe 10 mins. Once you get the game started it's fast and you can be through a scenario in 45 minutes, maybe less. The goal is to kill the most monsters and get the most loot which is staged around the map. Each scenario has a set of requirements to win. The first player to get an objective finished the first time gets bonus gold. Gold is spent on cool items between rounds, items are passed around in a drafting sort of manner. So between each scenario you get these upgrades and the game get better and better, it's quite a nice character progression system and the game comes with plenty of character sheets to help you record stats/items between gameplay sessions. What is cool about the scenarios is that you have different layers of the world, you start out on the outer circle, beat some many scenarios, goto the next, then to the middle circle. But you can only choose scenarios next to each other on each circle, so what this does is lets you play back through multiple campaigns in order to have played every scenario, you get to play 6 of 11 each time. It gives you a real reason to start over with different characters and play it all again. The game already has many add-ons that will keep you playing as long as you have the money to keep spending. The figures in this game are awesome, unless you can't stand chibi style artwork, you will love these. The booklet has some cool character lore in it and the game world is interesting. The quality of pieces and the board tiles are great, the only thing is that it can be hard to get it all back in the box which is a little annoying. You get a lot of pieces in here and a lot for your money. Rules are simple and easy to follow, the rulebook is among the best out there. Being all against all you will be killing each other over and over again. You actually respawn in this game, you don't have permanent death, which keeps everyone playing to the end of the scenarios and not getting bored. You do take a penalty for dying at the end of each scenario. Bottom line: If you've been thinking about this game, you should get this game. Period. This game is competitive, but never seems to make anyone mad. I don't think anyone who's played this or bought this has been let down and that's not always easy.

Arcadia Quest is a fun dungeon crawling game that has players going against the board and each other. At the start of the game, players, two to four, are given three characters to play through a campaign or stand alone adventure. A campaign is six scenarios which are made up of the games eleven scenarios that it comes with in the game. Each scenario will ask players to complete three objectives which two are driven by the scenario and a standard eliminate the other players. The first player to complete either the two objective scenarios with one eliminated player character, or two player character eliminations and one objective scenario will win that current scenario. This leads to what makes the game fun is that a player is never out of the running if they have one of their characters defeated. If they are eliminated by the enemies of the board, or fellow players, they can return by doing a simple rest action. That is the great mechanic of this game. Every time a player does an attack with one of their three characters they will have to place an exhaust token on that weapon. Eventually a player will no longer be able to do something and will need to rest. This gives a lot of strategy and timing that a player needs to consider on their turns. Combat itself is rolling dice, which is defined by being a range, bows, or close range attack, swords. Special equipment can add a little more to what a player can do, but it is still just rolling dice against enemies/players. When combating an enemy from the board a player chooses who they are using for their turn and activating a weapon for attack. That weapon dictates the amount of dice used, are they wanting swords or bows, and whatever other special power the player may have of that particular character. They then simply roll the attack trying to match or exceed an enemies health. This leads to another great effect in the game as enemies have an overkill rating. The overkill rating is the amount of success that needs to be rolled to avoid a retaliation attack. If a player does not hit that value the enemy gets to attack that player back, even if the player managed to eliminate the enemy. Players do not get the same counter attack when targeted by a player, but they can roll defense against a player's attack. Combat is fun, fast, and easy to learn. At the end of each scenario the players will tally up the amount of gold they earned from completing quests, being the first to complete a quest, and eliminating enemies/players. Then a drafting round will occur that gives players a chance to improve their characters for the next round. Someone would consider that this is the moment where the game will fall apart as the player with the most money will win the game, that is not true. Players are limited to only being able to buy three things. The items available to purchase are strong, but some can also be really cheap for players with little money to purchase. Yes, there are expansive powerful items, but never so much that it will make someone think the next round is going to that player. Also, since it is drafting, six cards dealt to each player as they pick two and pass the rest, players are able to choose to keep the most powerful item cards out of the other players hands by drafting that card, since that player can afford it. This series has fantastic miniatures to immerse anyone into the game, and plenty of expansions to keep players interested if they really fall in love with the series. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a dungeon crawler that is not co-operative, nice amount of dice chucking, and a fantastic amount of replay value.

I cannot decide between 4-star or 4.5-star. Depends on our playing group and who likes dice and who doesn't
We are an active gaming house and have owned and played over 300 modern board/card games in the last couple of years. What caught our interest on this one (other than all the youtube reviews said it was "fun!") is the fact that there is a mechanic not found in many games. + PVP and re-spawning This game has pvp (player vs. player) and respawning, just like video games. You may die, but you may kill others multiple times in one session. The game quests actually encourage this aspect for most scenarios. + Components Like everything we've tried from CMON so far, the components are fantastic. It makes you feel like you're getting your money's worth with the quality of components in this game. + Miniatures! Yes, this is one of the components, but the miniatures have great detail a I've seen some great paint jobs on boardgamegeek. > This game really needs an organizer. Once you punch the tokens you cannot fit the game back in the box. We had to dump the box the character figures came in, so the bags of tokens had someplace to reside. I found some great foamboard organizers people self-made (which is probably what we'll do), but there are some nice foam organizers a person can buy for almost the same cost as the game. ack! -- Loss of a star because the LUCK is high in this game! Everything comes down to two actions: dice rolling and what items you're team of characters are offered during the upgrade phase of the game. We had a punny, 2-attack goblin roll 8 crits in a row and thus decimated a character with 12 defense dice. Large swings in chance like this were the reason some of our family don't want to play this any longer, since their entire strategy can get derailed with the chance of a dice roll. Also, sometimes you have a ranged caster and no magic items provided in the item upgrade draft. So you go one or more scenarios without any upgrades. > Leans more toward melee. The chance of rolling ranged attacks is 3 (2 ranged + 1 crit) on a six sided die and melee is 4 (3 swords + 1 crit) on a six sided die. I get it, that ranged have the advantage of hitting from across the map (if unblocked), but it was no joke the number of swords a ranged attacker would roll compared to the roll they needed. This probably goes back more to the luck aspect than the fact that it isn't balanced. + Eleven (11) scenarios in the base game and a full "campaign" uses 6 of the 11. If you run through a second campaign to play all the scenarios you missed the first time, only the last, final battle is repeated. It took us about 10hrs to get through 6 scenarios (1 campaign). + The game scales fine for 2, 3 or 4 player. We had more fun with even numbers as there were more competitors to keep each other busy and less ganging up on one person. -- We have six in our family and I could not find an expansion for 5 or 6 players. Bummer! I guess a second copy of the game and you could add more players, by putting the maps next to each other, but I don't know if that would be recommended. + Expansions galore! With all the expansions that are out there, I think I read that there are over 100 playable characters now for this game. So even though the base game starts with 12 characters, there is plenty variety that can be captured through the expansions and characters for sale out there. > Weak story. This is a action video game not a role-playing adventure story. This may throw some people off. This game is all about combat! + Across six scenarios in a campaign, scenario #2 and #3 I almost got no money = no ability to purchase upgrades. I was going to hate on this game for what I was assuming, "if you fall behind early, there is no competing with the others later." But I was wrong and I found scenario #4 and #5 worked in my benefit. Thus entering the final battle I was able to compete with other players. > I'm not sure about the balance of the game. We found we had more success taking all our equipment upgrades and buffing out one main character out of our three, making that one as strong as possible. This left me wondering why do I even bother with a third character when all four of us would only play with one, maybe a second through an entire scenario? I realize the intent is that you buff out your characters evenly, but lack of upgrades because a scenario doesn't go in your favor may mean you can only afford one or two cheap upgrades that barely give one character the advantages of the next scenario which is always more difficult. OVERALL: We had fun and there were some very memorable battles. After speed playing through a full campaign we are tired and ready for a very different flavor game before we're ready to tackle another campaign. Was it worth the $50 I picked this up for on Amazon? Yes! Did I order some additional characters to add variety? Yes. Will we sell this or keep it after another two or three campaigns? Maybe. We feel Imperial Assault has more replayability even though that is mostly combat focused too and has great miniatures. But this has a different, more fun feel and one we are still having a lot of fun with.

Fantastically fun anime RPG style combat board game!
This is a fantastic dungeon crawler where you compete with 1-3 other players to be the first to complete 2-3 of the quests for each scenario, which then links up to the next scenario across the 6-mission campaign. Just completed the sixth and last scenario for a single campaign with my wife last weekend and it was super fun. It was pretty close and it is definitely not a friendly game as you are really going at each other to try to complete each quest first, which generally includes one where you must kill a hero from an opposing guild. The winner of each scenario tends to have more gold coins collected by the end to purchase even fancier upgrades to their equipment for the next round to gain an even higher leg up on their enemies (making you look forward to trying them out in the next scenario, although the enemies get upgraded as well so there is a good feeling of leveling up and evolution of opponents). If you enjoy this kind of rivalry then you will have a blast. The miniatures for the heroes and monsters with this game are wonderfully detailed, expressive, and awesome to place on the game board, which consists of multiple square tiles laid out in a different pattern depending on the scenario. Attacks consist of either melee or ranged/magic attacks with simple rules governing line of sight. The rolling of dice with the critical hits giving you an extra roll make it exciting to try to string combos of hits or saves, not to mention special equipment that can give you additional die re-rolls. If your heroes die, they can be resurrected back into the game (with certain penalties later) if you rest your guild so people can keep playing. There are a number of rules but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty intuitive - mainly move and attack and get stuff! Love this game!!

Great for Beginners and Experienced Players!
I can't say this enough: This is a great game for people getting into tabletop board games. I played more than a few rounds with my friends in college and introduced it to my friend and family at home. Everyone loved the cute designs and found the learning curve to be forgiving for beginners. Setup is simple and the goals are laid out for everyone to see: make more money by fighting monsters and other players. Learning the game can be a bit slow, but what tabletop game isn't? I say it's worth taking an extra 30 minutes to read through the rules and learning how to maneuver around the board. There is also a deeper layer of tactical gameplay, or in this case, making more money than the other players. Maybe that's why it was easier to explain it to newcomers. (*cough* Monopoly *cough*) What are you waiting for? Play it now!

My favorite board game purchase of 2015!
This is the game that makes PvP fun in a board game. Easy to understand rules and a lot of fun for beginning board gamers to advanced this is a must play board game! If you are looking for a PvP board game where you can also work on a campaign that ends with a coop quest then this is the game for you. Each player controls 3 heroes in a guild and earns gear and gold from quests. Use the gold at the end of each round to purchase better gear that will make you more powerful or versatile in the next round. You can have a bad couple of rounds and still come back and win because it has a combat system based on dice roles. Role a critical on a dice and you get to role another critical. Sometimes you keep rolling critical hits and you get to keep rolling dice. I recommend you purchase multiple packs of dice so each player has their own set. This game is even fun if you only have 2 players. Also the miniatures are great for painting and really liven up the look of the game.

Very Fun and Easy to Learn
Very fun and easy to learn. Its kind of like playing Memoir 44 but with fantasy characters. The build quality for the game is great and the expansion are a nice way to bring continued gameplay and challenge. There are enough game mechanics to make it interesting and give variety, but there are not too many that it becomes overwhelming (such as Decent). The minis, board and cards are very well made. Its very easy to setup and jump into playing. Gameplay last about 1 to 1.5 hours - pending any arguments or debates. Perfect for a Friday or Saturday game night. The I am glad I picked up this game and I will continue buying the expansions.

I'm a product of old school games like Hero Quest and i have to say
Everything about this game is average...except the minis. If you're looking for a huge pile of them to paint then you can't go wrong. You'll not find this many for this price anywhere else. But! Then it comes time to play the game. Now, I'm a product of old school games like Hero Quest and i have to say, this is no Hero Quest. Of course, getting your hands on Hero Quest can be costly but even the AD&D series of games are more compelling (Wrath of Arshadalon, etc.). We managed to go through one scenario and about halfway through the second before I really felt something was missing. Namely, the monster interaction. They are simply road blocks. As a reaction to an attack another player can move the monster towards you but that didn't really seem necessary most of the time and anti climactic when it did. The other thing was that the dungeon is all laid out there in the beginning so there is no mystery. Sure, you don't know exactly what flipping over an exploration token might reveal...but you know where they all are. The monsters are all on the board so you know what's "behind" every door before opening it. So, it's basically you moving around with three explorers trying to be the first to gather up tokens and complet "quests". It became ho-hum pretty quick. This is a great example of the direction many games have gone these days; sub par gameplay with a box full of plastic and a high price tag to boot. If you love painting minis then this game is a no brainer. They have a lot of character and the quantity/quality of them vs price really is worth it. But if you want a good, fun game to PLAY then you'd be better off with other REAL dungeon exploration games.

Best game ever
Best game ever, so far. I did not expect my wife to like it as much as she does, she even stopped complaining about how much I spent on it. I have yet to play it with someone who does not love it. We played it much more than I actually expected to. When my wife and I are bored, rather than vegging out on the couch watching TV we play this game. The quality of the miniatures are excellent and the game play is so much fun you forget about the long set-up. Setting up the scenarios is the only problem, but that is only when you first do it. After a couple of scenarios you get a system down and you are looking forward to the game so much you don't think about how much work it is to set up. At least that has been my experience. I don't think I can recommend this game enough. I am looking forward to getting the expansion Beyond the Grave next month, and Arcadia Quest: Inferno (hopefully in October). Anyone worried about not getting enough since missing out on the Kickstarter and all the Kickstarter exclusives, don't. In my opinion they (the Kickstarter exclusive characters) would be awesome to have, but this game is amazing as is.

You want at least 3 people playing tho for max fun.
Very fun game, took about an hour to grasp the rules but was worth it. The pvp and pve side work perfectly. Many times, when playing, two players would form "alliances" because one person killed them, only for the alliance to fall apart quickly afterwards. This is due to the simple fact that alliances don't work for very long because you cant balance the rewards without taking huge risks or by intentionally slowing yourself down (which just enables the person you are crippling to keep progressing anyway). The objectives change every "scenario" as well and it looks to be a very clever game with many possibilities where you can make up your own scenarios if you are so inclined. Definately recommend, Be warned tho, the game actually takes up a lot more space that you realise. We ended up playing on the floor.

D&D Lite
Great game! I liked it so much I backed Arcadia Quest Inferno when that was up (and that was totally worth it for the extra goodies you could buy for this game). The miniatures are excellent quality and all the character designs are great - a chunk of them are even not-so-subtle references to well known characters. This game is good for those looking for a light D&D type experience - the rules for combat are simple and a single game can be completed in an hour (not including setup). Recommend having all 4 players willing to commit to 6 games (a full campaign).
