AKFST Front Sight Adjustment Tool

An incredible tool! I work as the Range Safety Officer at a public rifle range in CT, so I help shooters with a variety of firearms issues. With the SKS, it's always sighting in off the iron sights. Typically, the shooter has one of the cheap, does-not-work sight adjustment tools that comes from a country far to the West. After struggling a few times, when the shooter asks for assistance, I pull my Magna-Matic tool out from my range bag and get them all taken care. This is a wonderful piece of American-made know-how. It has ALWAYS worked as designed. It has solved the issues (i.e. such as "frozen" front sight) 100% of the time. NOW I ONLY WISH THEY WOULD MAKE VARIENTS FOR THE 91/30 AND M44 MOSIN NAGANTS (HINT, HINT)!

Add me to the list of extremely happy customers! My WASR10 front sight resisted ALL efforts to move it with the cheesy "C" clamp style tools as well as maul and punch against the box end of a combination wrench. I was immediately impressed with the heft and quality of this tool right out of the box and rushed to try it out. Squirted a bit of Liquid Wrench on the sight, and after just a few minutes, started tightening down on it. It got tight, then tighter, and I thought "Uh-oh," another failure. One more slight crank and "Voila," my front sight moved for the first time in YEARS! Wow! Yes, it's somewhat expensive. But the thrill of finally being able to to convert an AK from a club to a useful weapon is worth the price.

Bought this AKFST because my UTG Model 47 Gen V sight tool did not fit an early Chinese SKS front sight for windage adjustment. The AKFST fits and is better constructed. The torque arm is more robust and longer giving you greater leverage for stubborn sights. Also the tool is shaped to better fit around the front sight hood/guard. Yes, it's more expensive, (about 4 times) but it's a better tool and you won't need to buy more tools for different AKs or SKSs with a front sight separate from the gas block. I understand Magna-matic Defense makes a different version for combo sight/gas block models.

Very sturdy and easy to use. I only wish the part that pushes the sight was a little bit longer so you can push the sight all the way off if you wanted to. I used this on my Vepr.

I have a particularly stiff SKS front sight and this tool worked for adjusting elevation for a short while, but the metal of the tool is softer than the metal of the sight, so it gouged out the slot by the second use and is no longer useable. It doesn't seem to be any stronger than cheaper front sight adjustment tools. To be fair, this front sight has ruined every SKS/AK front sight tool I've tried, including several from surplus cleaning kits. Still, I expected this product to hold up better for its price.

I ordered this item because I had recently bought a kensight trijicon front site post to replace my stock front sight post on my SAM7 and I didn't have a sight tool. The item arrived fast, about two days earlier then expected. It is beefy and appears to be made with quality. It removed my stock front sight post with ease. Now for the bad part. The fitting for the elevation completely goes around the top of your front sight post like a socket. This is nice if you are going to just adjust stock sights, but not if you are planning on using it on after market sights with other the standard dimensions like night sites.The width is ok on the tool, but the length is to short. I altered the tool with a dremel tool to fit my needs, but for the money I shouldn't have to. If I was going to just use it on stock sights I would have given it five stars

Like others have said, this is a solid tool to have. My mini draco had a front sight that was impossible to break free with out risking damage to it. Tried everything! I knew this would only be for height adj. since it wouldn't fit for windage on mini dracos. With all the penetrating oil that I left on the sight I put the tool on and what do you know. The clean snap I heard told me it was free! I'm sure the other models are just fine but if you have a stuck front sight post, this is the tool to get. I'm sure you can make something similar but this is worth having. 5 stars because it worked and feels like it'll last awhile.

Only thing to look out for is that it can be a little tricky getting it to sit right if you have to adjust the sight post all the way to one side (as I did with my C39v2). Kinda scratched up the post in the process, but an AK is like a jeep; if you keep it looking pristine, you're doing it wrong.
