I have a Surface Pro 4, with the original Microsoft (MS) charger. I travel on business quite a lot, and often find myself sitting in day-long meetings, and usually I plug my phone into the charger's USB port, to ensure that my phone remains fully charged. However, although the charger still charges the Surface perfectly well, its USB port has become a bit flaky, and won't charge my phone (and no, it's not a faulty USB cable). So, I bought this charger as a replacement for when I travel. I was tad reluctant about buying a non-MS charger because a year or so back I bought one of them on Amazon, but whenever it was plugged into the Surface, the touchpad went crazy (and when I read the reviews, it turned out that that problem had been reported by several other buyers). So, that one went straight back to Amazon. So what about this new one? It's fantastic. Solidly-built, with a nice long power cord. The small converter is a great idea: when you have a power source next to you, it replaces the power cord, leaving less clutter on your desk. The USB works perfectly (same cable as before - my phone charges quickly and reliably). Of course, the main purpose of the item is to charge your Surface - which it does, and quickly. As one indicator that it charges just fine (despite being a bit lower-powered than the MS charger) - I gave a 90-minute PowerPoint presentation, full of animations etc., during which I kept the charger attached to the Surface. After I had finished the presentation, I looked at the battery status, to see if the charger had been able to "keep up", or whether maybe there had been some battery drain. The battery was at 100%, and the charger was still cool to the touch. Can't ask for anything more, IMO. To be clear - I have just purchased this item, and so can't speak to its durability - but if the unit (or any part of it) fails, I'll update this review. So far, though a definite 5 stars.

About 2 weeks ago, my original Microsoft Surface Book charger overheated and shorted out after 3 years of loyal service. I was really bummed out because my Surface Book was my primary machine. I ordered this charger by Kabcon and had amazon send it using premium service because they dont sell the charger separately in my country. I am surprised and happy that I received the delivery 2 days earlier than scheduled. Of course, this may vary depending on the operating policies of your local couriers. PRODUCT REVIEW The product is neatly packaged in a compact box, and it even comes with a carrying case for travel. It comes with two kinds of AC connectors, one is a long cable and the other connects directly on the power brick so the adapter sticks directly on the wall socket. Personally, I prefer the cable because there is less risk thet the power brick falls off the socket. The DC cable that connects to the surface can be used in any direction, and there is a light that let's you know that your surface is charging, just like the original. I've read some reviews online where some Surface chargers can cause the trackpad to malfunction. I'm happy to say I did NOT have those problems for this charger. I'll test this charger a bit further and, hopefully it lasts long like the original. Thankfully Kabcon provides a 12 month warranty! Overall, I'm quite satisfied with their product. Works well!

I've tried several third-party cords for my Surface Book over the years. A couple of them got way too hot and smelled like melting plastic. Others began to fray after just a few weeks or even days of light use. The cord almost seems designed to wear out fast-- they all fail at the same place (just below the magnetic plug that fits into the Surface). Even Microsoft's own cords don't last long. The first cord I ordered from this seller didn't work consistently. If it folded a certain way, the power stopped charging. I wrote to the company about the issue, and they promptly sent me a replacement for free without making me go to the trouble of returning the first one. The replacement worked perfectly and lasted longer than any other third-party Surface cord I've had, and longer than one of the cords from Microsoft. When it finally did start to fray, I didn't hesitate to reorder another from this seller. I've used this one for months with no problems. It's hard to find a good, lasting Surface cord. This is the best one I've found.

Used for several months now and seems fit for purpose. Slightly more convenient design than the original, runs cooler and comes with a soft carry case to keep everything together. The USB and magnetic connector with light work. Runs cooler than the original. Seems to good to be true. I guess time will tell if it's hard on my battery but so far it performs similar to the MS one. Edit after 1 year: Battery life has significantly dropped (very light use). I suspect the charger doesn’t manage the charging as well as the MS one. Something has to be compromised for the price I suppose. Otherwise it’s good.

I've only had the charger for a few days but have had no problems charging my surface pro 7. I like that it comes with an extra long cord but also an additional plug if the length is not required. Travel case is a bonus. Update: After 9 months, my charger still works (better and longer than the original's lifespan), although it started acting up a bit. Contacted seller: great customer service and excellent communication. They were quick to respond and immediately addressed my concern.

Really good quality third party charger, glad I finally spent a little bit more. This one works great, had a lot of duds when I got the cheap option. Definitely recommend.
