A real beautiful game.
This game has a lot of attention paid to the background. The land is full of cool lush views. The trees have tons of leaves and the detail paid to Alice is real apparent, her hair is made of individual strands that wave in the wind and when she runs. The game is full of imagination, such as the variety of weapons such as a pepper shaker, a bloody butcher knife, an umbrella and other things are fun and fresh to play and kill things with. The gameplay is similar to beyond good and evil and zelda with roses instead of heart containers. About the complaints of invisible walls. The game is linear, and people should realize that. That doesn't mean it is a bad game. The invisible walls keep the player from going off track and getting stuck in some software bug. when playing keep that in mind and if you hit one look around for the correct way to travel, because trying to beat the program is not productive and not fun. This game really fits an xbox 360 controller beautifully, all the buttons are set up for you and it even vibrates when you pick up coins and stuff. One thing though is that manual aim is better on a mouse no matter how you cut it, but the targeting system they have makes up for it (although i try manual aim on the joystick just to get better at it. It is more of a challenge). The game does take a decent amount of cpu power if you want to run it in 1080p, but it looks better on a pc for sure! One recommendation, Watch the video on youtube on changing the fps limiter on the game. It is set to 31 fps max by default, but 60 is a bit better of a limit. All and all if you want some light hearted fantasy gaming that not super complex then pick up this title. The price is low making this a good deal.

Doesn't work...
I'm sure the game is great if you get it to play. Game crashes on start after you go through mandatory Sony DRM. EA has not released any patches, no support on this issue on the forums since 2011, and I can't even log in to the Origins website to request support. Waste of money--at least I only paid $5.

GREAT GAME, 3 years after purchase.
Beautiful graphics, very fun game to play that seams like it will take up a good amount of time, and has a good amount of story value. However, after a few hours into the game( i like to take my time and enjoy a game thoroughly my first time, i noticed i could not pull out my umbrella to block or deflect. It turns out that this is a known issue with this game, and i am very unhappy with it as i have been stuck in the same spot for about an hour and a half. EA needs to either release a patch fix, or refund customers their money for making a game that is not properly bug tested before being released to the public.Update: 11/06/2012 I recently re-downloaded the game, and have had no issues. May have been a glitch in my old system as i had some other issues with it. wonderful game, beautiful graphics!!!. Definitely recommend.Updates 01/10/2015 I recently got a new gaming laptop and downloaded this game on it, and must say it looks even better. Anyone complaining about the game not running good, having lag issues or frame rate problems, did not read that this game does require good specs and is very detailed. To those complaining, try dropping your resolution or checking for card updates, are upgrading your system to handle this. Love this game and will definitely recommend!!!!!

Favorite game, but...
I absolutely love this game and it's gotten me through some Times in my life, it's truly a work of art and I love it to pieces. Here's what makes this edition less than optimal, however:To begin as a disclaimer: I have a pretty good gaming laptop. Not super new anymore, but it gets the job done and I still love it.First off, to get the game to run AT ALL (on any sort of newer computers especially), you HAVE to download the newest version of Direct X. Not a huge problem if you know it's necessary, but finding this out can require anywhere from a little bit of searching to digging the depths of forums trying to figure out why there's "a problem with the setup", with solutions typically listed as "download Windows Media Features", whether this applies to your device or not. No, download Direct X first and see what happens from there. For the deluxe edition, I don't remember how I managed to get the first game working in the past, but I can't now, and search results are relatively inconclusive on how to fix that issue, but I will figure it out, because I am determined to be able to enjoy my favorite game. This brings us to the last main issue: freezing. I'm not talking "man the screen froze and I can just tab out, close it, and try again", no. I'm talking "the loading screen froze and not only can I not tab out of it and close it, but even CTRL+ALT+DELETE and opening the task manager is not working. I have no choice but to hold the power button until it shuts off, start everything back up, and hope to all that is holy that I am able to actually start the game properly this time. It doesn't normally take more than one time of this happening for the game to load in next time, but it's enough to make me only willing to even attempt to play the game under very certain circumstances.I love the game and am willing to put up with lots of these things, and I'm sure it's not this difficult gor everyone, but if you're not willing to potentially fight with a game to the point you want to tear your hair out until it will let you play it, it's not for you.I wish I could really say the Steam version is better, but it isn't.

I love this game.
I played the first version, loved it and beat the game. There are so many levels which makes for hours of entertainment. I think it is well worth the money. Its challenging and has fantastically beautiful and crazy artwork. Hands down one of my very favorite games. HOWEVER, after getting about halfway through Madness Returns, (all the while loving it and enjoying the levels and artwork and challenge), I got STUCK on a difficult jump on Doll Land which I can not get past no matter how hard I try. So unfortunately after paying for the game I cannot complete it. I cannot find any help or cheats to move past this. So, I am very disappointed about that.
