Very cheap. Good metal exterior for how cheap it is. Turns on and gets hot.I got this because it seemed to be a good value from the reviews and the pictures. Took a chance and was satisfied for a while. I run a food business on the weekends and use it every week to keep the water of a steam table warm. The thing was never used to boil or do any high temp. cooking. Started using it back in December 2012. It died a week ago.With consistent use expect about 8 months of life out of this hot plate. For the light duty I use it for, and for how cheap it is, I will be buying another. Its a good, cheapo hot plate.If you want to do any kind of good cooking with a hot plate, get a more expensive one.This is a fine water-warming hot-plate. I wouldn't use it for anything other than this.

I am using this to melt oils for soap making. I have also used it to keep something on a simmer during a BBQ.What I like about it:- very light weight and low profile making it easy to store- Power switch and temp controls seperate so easy to make sure if it is on or off- does well at maintaining lowwer temps. (I have not tried to actually cook on high heats I wanted something that could maintain low heat and this does that quiet well)What I don't like- burner does not rest flat. This makes pots woble and can lead to uneaven heat

This is a perfect size burner to have as a back up if you are running a propane stove andcan't (or don't) keep track of how much gas is left in the tank.I only use gas for my stove so only use a 12 gal propane tank which goes empty in a little overa year. It's the little over that will get you, as it goes empty when you are cooking; Duh!This way instead of unhooking the bottle to get it filled when it is only half (or so) empty isa thing of the past, because I don't care if it goes empty anymore.The burner works great, and is MORE than hot enough (1000 Watts) to take care of anything I am cooking until I can get down to the local fill station.It fits nicely in the ovens bottom storage drawer so is there when I need it.

I know this burner is inexpensive, but it is still junk. I bought two of these burners. Yes, they look pretty, but that's where the good ends. One of the burner's grates is uneven, causing the pot or pan to wobble. When it wobbles, the pan or pot does not make full contact with the burner's heating grate. The other burner's heating grate is more even, but it does not get red hot like the other burner. Too many inconsistencies. To sum up, you never know what you are going to get with these; an uneven grate, or an underpowered unit. I got water to boil, but it took ages. I will not buy these again.

I replaced other table top burners with this one because of the actual on/off switch. The price is good and the product works very well and there is no accidental turning it on by brushing against the knob as has happened in the past.

This is the best burner I have owned. It is a bit high and you have to be sure the pan is square on the burner or it is inclined to slide off which is a danger to a person in a wheelchair. Liquids quickly come to a boil. Simmering is delightful.Easy to clean and no rust which is a blessing. I now have two separate burners and should have done this a long time ago.

Exactly as described. works great. portable. easy storage.

This company has the absolute worst quality control. The first one I received was not level causing it to rock back and forth creating a possible dangerous situation. The replacement was level but dents and marks all over the body. It works great, but very poor quality build.
