Alba Botanica Acnedote Oil Control Lotion, 57g

I am 42 and I have searched for years for a good oil control lotion for my angry, oily, acne-prone, combination skin and this is the best by far. It's lightweight and has a nice light fragrance. It controls my facial oil all day, reducing the amount of dirt and dead skin my pores collect helping to keep my skin clear and smooth and bright. You don't need to use a lot and it goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly, Works great on my newly minted teenage son as well, so now, hopefully, he won't have to struggle with his skin issues the way I have for years.Everything I have gotten from Alba Bontanica is amazing!Plus the name gives us a good laugh.

I have very combination skin and am allergic to witch hazel, I am so happy with this product and the entire AcneDote line!!! I have been using the toner for about a year now and had to try to the rest. This is the first time I am dewy without feeling greasy. This moisturizer is definitely not lightweight- I will only be using at nighttime or maybe under makeup. I would love for them to expand this line with daytime/SPF products or body lotion. The products also don’t have a pleasant fragrance, which I am more than willing to sacrifice for the glow- but if you are expecting them to smell like the delicious plumeria shampoo, they don’t. If you have been searching for an affordable, plant based and effective acne treatment- I highly recommend.

I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and I have to say I'm pretty satisfied with the results. My skin used to be super oily, but over the past few months it has changed more to somewhere between combination and normal. For years I have used 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, but was starting to find it way too drying now that my skin is less oily. After switching to this Alba lotion, right away I noticed the little bumps I get on my forehead going away, and some larger pimples along my jaw and around my nose have dried up faster than usual, and I've had no new major breakouts since I started using it. I can't really speak to how well it controls oil except to say I find it slightly drying, but not as much as benzoyl peroxide.The only cons are that it does sting a little when you put it on, and I think the smell of the essential oils in it is a little strong. The smell does dissipate pretty quickly, so that's just a minor issue.I also want to add that I think some reviewers have implied that this is a moisturizer because it is called a "lotion" but it isn't, it is just a creamy skin treatment. It is a little drying so you should definitely follow up with a moisturizer if you don't want your skin to feel tight and overly dry and flakey.

I don't like to purchase products which are tested on animals, so I thought I'd give this brand of facial lotion a try. I'm glad I did! I didn't find it to be overly strong, or turn my face red, which sometimes seems to happen with lotions which have acne medication in them. The scent is sort of earthy, but not terrible or too chemical smelling, so that was a plus. I don't have severe acne or anything but it seems to handle the occasional breakout just fine, without drying out my skin. I also liked the fact that it uses salicylic acid rather than benzoyl peroxide, so no random bleach spots on my towels or shirt collars to worry about.

I originally bought this as my travel moisturizer since I had too many products and hate checking bags. Perfect size for TSA rules. Kept me from breaking out on travel when I am out of my routine. Ran out of some of my other products and decided to try using it as part of my regular routine and it has made my life so much simpler! I don't have a lot of acne, but I tend to break out from stress or changes to products. This has helped cut down on my occasional acne a lot. I use daily at night, and I can still layer a sleeping pack product over it. I skip it in the morning and use my regular moisturizer and sunblock with no issues. When I travel, I use this morning and night and just put sunblock over it for daytime. It does have a little sting to it if I have just used toner or in areas I might be getting a break out -- poof! -- no break out in that area. Bottle is small, but price is right, and its hard to find in the store/drugstore sometimes, so its great to have on Amazon.
