It was a great balance of laughable moments and touching moments. At the end I just started bawling because to get a sense that someone could love you that much, if you watch it you’ll see what I mean. Since Steve Coogan usually plays sardonic, humorously negative characters and Paul Rudd is usually the easy going nice guy I assumed they would both play to type again. It was a nice twist to see that (somewhat) switched and see the young boy be more than just a stock character brat. All three were multidimensional characters that added more depth to the plot than I expected, made me really care about them, and made their relationships with each other feel very genuine. The acting and writing were great and - for those as obsessed with sets as I am - the house is Gorgeous!
