Broken in about a week...
***Update to reviewAlthough as previously stated, this did as advertised, it didn't take long for it to start malfunctioning. Somehow the connection to the HDMI cable started to malfunction, and now it's completely useless to me. Thankfully, I got a video card to replace it with from a friend of mine. I can't recommend this item after all. This is not necessarily a fault of the seller, it is the product itself.Definitely does as advertised. I put this on a 2nd Generation i3 PC that I set up for my son. I have it hooked up to a 1080 pc, and my display looks like there's no adapter at all. My only gripe is that it sticks out pretty far plugged into the back of the computer which makes me worry about damage it not fitting in an enclosure, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. Overall, great product for a very affordable price.

This does exactly what it is advertised to do. Connects an old computer to a new monitor or HDTV
The product worked great. The only issue that someone might have is that it needs external power, so if their computer doesn't have an available powered USB port they will also have to obtain a USB wall outlet power adapter, and possibly a longer USB cable than the one provided.

Never worked.
Never worked. Monitor says invalid connection. Borrowed one from a Tech worker, and that one worked. Followed same procedure for both.Will not recommend.

lasted only a few days.
Was happy with it. Used it to two times. Then stored in my laptop bag for a few days. And now it didn't turn on and smells burnt.
