Switched to this sock and we can actually see the sock change color as it traps contaminants in the tank. The sock has never filled up as the other had and after two weeks we decided to replace with a fresh one anyhow; probably could have gone three weeks honestly (We bought the eight pack and pre cycled them in the washer as suggested in the instructions). The protein skimmer seems to work more efficiently, the tank glass has less attached debris between cleanings. We are very satisfied with this product and recommend anyone to at least try it. We have a 72 gal reef and fish tank with a refugium and can definitely see the difference that a quality sock can make. Never would have thought that this would make such an improvement in the quality of the tank environment, but it does. We probably shouldn't say, but this sock is so superior that we don't see ourselves having to purchase anymore for quite a while. These filter socks very much help me accomplish that task. I have ordered a number of different brands over the last few years and the quality is far better than any others I have tried. These keep my 55 gallon aquarium looking crystal clear and last for about 5 days give or which is about the time they need to be changed anyway. From a durability stand point, I have washed these 2 times now in the washing machine with a 1/4 cup of bleach as the manufacture suggests and they come out looking close to new. Based on how well these are standing up to washes I am guessing I will get a lot of use out of them prior to needing to replace.
