I use these on CCTV systems where the NVR is out of the way in a cupboard, simply connect the hdmi output, USB, power and a cat5 cable. I can then use existing infrastructure cabling to send video to somewhere more convenient, without needing to connect power at the receiving end, having usb as well means that the user can have full control with a mouse (or a keyboard as well, if used with a PC).
