Exped AirMat Basic UL 7.5 Sleeping Mat

ussed for an eight day Appalachian Trail backpacking trip in the Smokies- moveed around and off of it a bit- not too much support on the wood floors of the shelters.

Light weight, took mine to the Atacama Crossing 250km ultra race... it performed superbly. Its a little noisy at night it would have been nice if there was some sort of "soft" fabric on the side a person sleeps on. But its super light and very packable. I love it. I also agree with the valve is not a 2 way so you need close the cap super fast without losing air. I still really like it though.

Exped mats are generally great, but their quality control/design has slipped. The input valve on this mat can be cheap and, even, defective. When that is the case, the mat is a waste of money. These cheap valves are so flimsy at times that they do not prevent the air, which you have laboriously input, from rushing back out as you try frantically to close the valve. While others on this site claim their mat is great, many users are finding problems with the valves. Exped can make good valves. I have purchased the new extra large pillow, and it has an excellent, 2-way valve. Hopefully, Exped will start putting similar valve on their mats.

Size and comfort are amazing considering how light and small this thing packs up. It worked out great for a week of motorcycle camping when matched with the Exped Pillow Pump.

This mat provides excellent comfort and is one of the smallest things in my pack it is also very durable.

Have a comfort sleep with this good stuff during our 8 days expedition in the tropical rain forest of Malaysia!
