Swanson Tool TS152 8-Inch Try Square with Hardwood Handle

It's a good quality square, but it does have wood and brass in it. I keep it very far away from my welding, outdoor, and even rough construction tools. I like the wood and brass styling and and it reminds me not to walk off with it, as I often do with my speed squares.

This is a tool I don't use often but, when needed, proves invaluable in the layout of any design. I've used Tri-Squares for more than 6 decades, The Swanson 8" Tri-Square rates right up with the best of them but at a fraction of the price. It is an exceptional value and essential for any craftsman or serious wood worker. The shaped, Hardwood handle with brass fittings is a bonus!

When I received this Swanson try square, I checked it with a machinist square. This product is did not come out as exactly square, being off by 1/128th--about the height of a piece of printer paper. May be accurate enough for general cabinetry or shop project layout, so I will keep it. If you purchase this item, be sure to check for square.

I am in love with the precision and easy to use design that was put on this tool. very solid and nice.

I thought I was imagining things. I held it in my hand and it is bent. Less then 90 degrees it makes a "V" shape rather than an "L". the wood is tacky pine stained orangey fake look rosewood. The brass is silly and maybe if you grinded it off just right you could have a high level certified machinist square. Tell me how to do that so I have something very nice but for cheap because I made it. I don't think it is possible or worth the time. $15 smackers for a try square kit is a bit much I think.So I bought this to check the model pine dovetail jointed box I'm making and this would make my project ruined. I worked really hard on designing it with a mirror that I had commissioned that I paid $94 for. The idea was make a prototype of pine and then make the real one out of oak. I can not use this as a tool and should have complained but didn't. Do not buy this. I am more than disappointed more like mad. I have a framers square for the outside so guess I am okay but my design in complex so wanted to check the interior dimensions. It is so far off the makers know that it is useless. If they wouldn't trust it why should you? I don't need overkill just something to check my box. I need something better if I can find it. With things like this I'm afraid the more expensive ones will be just as bad and I'll be out more money but even worse not have the tool I need. Swanson needs to fix this or stop selling it, period.

Good looking tool and works well

This square replaces a really (really) old one. It is quite pretty, but the real thing, accuracy, is also top notch. My reference square (Starrett) confirmed the squareness, & the grid is acceptable, within 1/64 over the 7 inch length on the outside scale. I make craftsman furniture & this square is just fine for daily use in my woodshop.

Almost had a heart attack when I dropped it. I've been using it for a day (wood hobby shop) and value it more than some of my power tools. I love the brass.

This is a keeper. A good tool is a pleasure to use. This is one of them.
