See you first remove mounting plate at 12 and 6 o'clock positions. Then mount plate and return screws to same position. Short cord maybe 4 feet long so I had to buy a six foot extension cord to reach my outlet. Review: Great!! - This is wonderful light fixture. I have it over my makeup vanity. I actually mounted above a tall bathroom cabinet & plugged into an outlet that is controlled by a switch just inside the bathroom door.
