Nice parts, worse channeling in old Classic.
I have a 15 yr old Gaggia Classic and wanted to replace the corroded shower screen holder. This "tune-up kit" is a great price, the IMS screen is very pretty, and I already use and like the Cafelat silicone gasket. It all fit beautifully and looked great. But I got large divots and channeling at specific spots on the puck every time, regardless of coffee, dose, tamp. I tried every experiment I could think of: screw tightness, old screen, portafilter rotation, reinstall holder, but only changing back to the original shower holder solved the problem. I don't really understand, 6 holes seems like it should be better than 4, but I do note that the back of the 6-hole screen holder has a narrow, deep channel, much different from the shallower and wider water path in the original Gaggia part. Your experience may vary, but I've since seen several similar reports online. 2022 Update - got around to replacing entire boiler. No channeling now. Bottom line, "Tune Up Kit" can't fix everything! So full stars to be fair.

Best value upgrade for coffee taste
I have done 7 or 8 upgrades to my espresso machine now, and this one is probably the #1 dollar for value upgrade for coffee taste. Also, it is very easy to install and can be done by any primate with a screwdriver. After doing this upgrade, you can actually taste a noticeable difference in coffee quality The other great one was upgrading my grinder burrs (from used and worn burrs), which was more expensive but also a major difference. Anyway, I would highly recommend this upgrade as one of your first 2 or 3 upgrades. Tip: Make sure to unscrew it and clean it when you descale. If you don’t descale, you better start before your machine fails. Also, if you have not descaled your machine in a long time, you have a major coffee taste upgrade to look forward to after you’re done.

Good upgrade!
My aluminum shower head was nasty and super oxidized. Gasket also needed replacement tho it was not presenting any problems. This is a good upgrade it looks nice too in the machine. Only small complaint is they for some reason I need to turn the portafilter a lot more to fit snugly. Not sure why. I’m sure I’ll get used to it but I have to wonder if it is the gasket or screen, they look nearly identical in size to original. Overall very satisfied tho.

Major improvement for a six year old machine
I've owned a 2014 version of the Gaggia Classic for about a year or two, which I purchased used on eBay. I am a professional barista, so I know my way around an espresso machine, and my shots on the Gaggia Classic have been good sometimes, but also sometimes off. I thought that installing this kit would help, and oh boy did it ever. It was very easy to install, as there are videos on YouTube of people installing similar items to help. The products are of very good quality, and I immediately noticed an improvement in water dispersion from the shower screen. I pulled three shots yesterday and two today and all were very nice. My next improvement on my machine will be tweaking the pressure down to 9 bar and purchasing a bottomless portafilter, but the improvements this kit has made might end up being be the best of all.

Fits Gaggia Classic great
Replaced components that were 18 months old and used twice a day. Seem high quality and made in Italy. Brass shower holder fits perfectly, but is milled with different shapes and indentations than the the factory original. Much better quality and heavier than the aluminum (?) OEM part which, despite deep cleaning, appears to have oxidized or even rusted. The included gasket and screen are nice too. E gasket is silicon which should last longer than the hard rubber original which was really deteriorated after a year and a half. Have only pulled a couple shots so far but appears to work as the original with no leaks or noticable difference in quality of the espresso.

A needed upgrade for the Gaggia Classic Pro
My Gaggia Classic Pro was made in 2019. So it had the Aluminum brew plate. Since Aluminum and steel aren't friendly towards each other, and years of accumulated use put coffee deposits everywhere, it was a BEAR to get out after removing the filter screen, even after removing the two 5mm machine screws, themselves requiring me to get a 12" bit extension and turning the machine upside down. The impact driver got them out. But even with them out it took "persuasion" to get the plate to let go! (flame and mallet) The original gasket was next. Black rubber that had petrified to a very hard ring that simply broke. The surface was vigorously cleaned, and even the screw holes were chased with a 1x6 tap to clean the threads. Used Cafiza and a backflush basket also. Descaled the machine. This new brass brew plate has bigger holes and won't react at the bottom of the brew tank. The blue silicone will give years of softer seals, and it feels nice again to close the porta filter. Finish off with the new filter screen and you are ready for seriously good espresso again.

Easy to install and a definite materials upgrade
Physically, these are better parts. I did not install the gasket, I'm going to wait for the original gasket to wear out. Does it make a difference? Well, you'll have to be the judge of that. Based on the weight and material, it should hold more consistent heat. The water should also be more evenly distributed onto the puck. Really easy to install. Would 100% recommend if you need to replace these parts. An optional, but nice to have, upgrade if you're just trying to get the most from your Classic Pro.

Much room for improvement
I bougt and installed two of these on my machines and they both have the same issue. Between the shower screen and the shower screen holder, something is not quite right. The water mainly comes out around the edges of the shower screen rather than through the holes in the screen as intended. It still makes expresso but it's not what I would consider an improvement. I will be sticking to stock parts for now.

If you’re looking to upgrade your Gaggia, and are a little bit handy, this is a great kit to consider.

Ordered this kit after watching a YouTube video about upgrading the shower screen, shower screen holder and gasket. Immediately you notice the difference with the upgraded shower screen holder, it's made of brass and weighs about 3-4 more than the stock aluminium holder. The brass has better thermal properties vs aluminium. The shots I'm pulling now have become better in terms of crema and silkiness/smoothness of the coffee. It's a subtle difference but it is definitely there. If you love coffee then this is an upgrade that is worthwhile. I found the gasket to be fine, some reviews here mention that it's squishy and/or doesn't seal properly but I have not experienced this at all. It's much better than my 5 year old stock rubber gasket that had become stiff as a rock.

Good tune up kit! For those who cannot get the tightening and water distribution right on the IMS shower screen, you can also use a double screen, original followed by IMS. The effect is way better.
