The good news: getting twice the amount I need from a can (when mixed 1/1 with water). Putting a coat of urethane on top (after dried) darkens it - no need for a second coat (and potentially making it bluish-purple). **Q: Can you use it on pressed wood?** A: Yes but not sure the look would be what you want. It ages the wood bringing out the grain on pressed wood it would exaggerate the pieces of pressed wood a gel stain Might be a better product. You can make faux grain. **Q: can the stain be lightened after it's applied? I have darker areas where it overlapped.** A: Try leaving the treated wood out in the sun. The UV rays start to fade/lighten the effect on wood. You may need to leave in the sun for several days.
