My horse decided to go and be stupid, which in turn ended up having him slice his lower leg (cannon area) up pretty badly. Things were going okay and seemed to be healing and then a few days later I noticed that it didn't look right, researched and found out my horse had developed proud flesh. Ugh! I tried everything to get it under control but seemed to get worse, so researched how to rid proud flesh and this product popped up, decided to give it a try as I was out of options at this point, and needed to be cleared up sooner than later or was going to have to acquire a vet bill I just couldn't afford. Put this on a day ago, just took the bandage off (it was coming off) and the difference is huge! I feel within the next couple of days the wound will be back to normal and healing! Highly recommend this product!! Follow the directions, one thing I wasn't sure of b/c it doesn't mention is whether to wrap the wound or not. I found a couple of reviews with more detail and most people suggest wrapping and leaving it on for a few days. Unfortunately, the hot humid weather has me changing bandages every other day. I will be keeping a tub of this in the first aid kit.

Absolute life saver! My horse had a wound on his lower leg and I noticed it wasn’t healing as quick as it should. Within a few days a pinkish flesh started protruding from the wound and I knew it was Proudflesh. I ordered the product from Amazon and got it in 2 days. As soon as it arrived, I bathed him and applied the paste/gel to his wound. The next day, the wound had turned black and crusted over. I flaked off the crust, it oozed a bit so I dabbed with paper towel and reapplied the treatment. The third day I did the same thing, with each day the proudflesh was shrinking. By the 4th day it was gone and the original wound began to heal like it should have. Two things: 1. I didn’t know when to stop treatment. I applied it a fourth day and could tell it was irritating him, it must have been eating away at his healthy flesh so I wiped it and rinsed it best I could to remove the remainder. That’s how I knew to stop treatment. 2. It turned green at one point and I was afraid of gangrene but by deduction the paste being blue and the ooze being yellow, the combination created a green appearance. Something the manufacturer may want to reconsider regarding the formula coloring. Overall, I’m keeping this product in my first aid arsenal and would highly recommend it to anyone experiencing small cases of Proudflesh, save yourself a vet visit and sedation for your horse. For reference, my gelding’s wound was approx. 1.5x2”.

Works well

My horse sustained a bad wound to his heel bulb. It was quite deep. The vet gave me a protocol to follow, the last of which was to add this ointment to prevent skin granulation. it has worked very well. You don’t need very much if you apply it evenly and thinly. One small jar lasted us three months of nearly daily application. Pricewise, I would look for when it is on discount as it is small container..

So happy with this product! Saved me a huge vet bill. I wish I had taken before and after pictures.

Had a horse that developed some Proud flesh from a very small cut. Decided to give this a shot as it was referred to us by a friend Before calling the vet. Within seven days, The proud flesh had cleared up almost entirely. Great buy!

I was skeptical because of the price but needed a remedy for the proud flesh on my horses back leg. My only other option was to call the vet. The injury was minor and due to a slip exiting the trailer this winter. Mostly skin but there were 2 sections where the cut was deeper. Let me tell you, I wish I would have taken pics! There were 2 spots where proud flesh had accumulated, and the wound wouldn’t heal. I just added this to a gauze (only apply to proud flesh!) and then wrapped with vet wrap to hold in place. Left on for 24hrs, removed the bandage and it had shrunk by easily 50%. Only did this 1 more time before the wound was level. This will definitely increase healing time! Would definitely recommend!
