I loved this book when I was young, and now the next generation does too.

My granddaughter enjoys this "Big People" book and reading it with me.

This book is such a good summer read about team work. My two kids (ages 3&5) and I love Swimmy!

This is such an incredibly beautifully illustrated and thought provoking book for children and adults of all ages! I started reading this book to children when I started teaching fifty years ago and have read it many hundreds of times to classes, library story hours and my own children ever since! I even created an art activity for the children so they could design their own underwater world and story! The book's positive message is inspirational. Leo Lionni has written and illustrated superb literature! Buy this, then buy all his books!!

Leo Lionni does not disappoint. The story has a great moral for kids (of all ages) to keep swimming and that we are wonderful as individuals but we are stronger when we work together.

The book is of decent quality. But the story just didn’t draw us in. I’ve kept the book (originally bought for kid #1 and now on kid #4) because it’s not that bad. It just doesn’t get read much.

Like with many new books I had to convince my 2 year old to read this one and I wasn't sure if he will like the illustrations. The first time I didn't read the whole text I summarized the every page in 1-2 short sentences. Few days ago I had to read it to him word by word several times in a row. I will buy more books written by this author.

love love love Leo Lionni. The illustrations in his books are just beautiful. Swimmy is a particular favourite, the lessons of strength in numbers, that sadness can be overcome and the world is a beautiful place. Just perfect.

Damit leben alle in Sicherheit.Mit Recht wird dieses kleine Buch Klassiker genannt. Denn:1. Es ist ziemlich alt (Erstveröffentlichung 1964), aber es ist keineswegs in die Jahre gekommen. Denn es ist optisch zeitlos schön gestaltet, und zeitlos tief und bewegend ist die Erzählung.2. Es ist bewährt, hat unzählige Leserinnen und Leser emotional angerührt und geprägt.3. Es spricht als Kinderbuch auch Erwachsene an, für die der gleichnishafte Charakter der Erzählung ebenso als Lebensweisheit bedeutsam ist wie für Kinder, und die ästhetisch durchaus angesprochen werden, weil das Buch eben nicht kindisch daher kommt.4. Es ist mehrdimensional in der Bedeutung, sowohl das Thema Außenseiter (schwarzer Fisch in rotem Schwarm - ähnlich der andere Lionni-Klassiker  Frederick ) als auch das Thema "Gemeinsam sind wir stark!" als auch das Thema "Ich bin klein - und kann trotzdem stark sein" als auch das Thema "Intelligenz/Witz ist oft wichtiger als körperliche Stärke" wird eindrücklich vor Augen gestellt.5. This is such a beautiful story, and at many levels. it tells about being positive (even if you have had a loss), it tells about how to recognise the beauty of the world, it tells about how not to be limited by your fears, it tells about being smart and think different, it tells about not being scared about the bullies. Suitable for 2 years old babies at the more simple levels, and for older boys and girls for appreciate all its meanings. One of our favorites books !
