Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)

It is a wonderful album with a great minimalist production, tremendous songs and the best female voice of the rock era. I hadn’t heard it for a while but I had a yearning for it and got it as a mp3 download. Tremendous. Love is a Stranger, wrap it Up, Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), The Walk, This City Never SLEEPS, Jennifer and others. All fantastic.

Quality in every single tune, even after all these years this album has not aged. One of the all time 80s greats. Shame Annie Lennox voice never had similar quality songs in her career. This was her pinnacle for her whoch seems a waste if her talent.

An early adopter of the Compact Disc format I bought Sweet Dreams as one of my first CDs and loved how it showcased the new format. Twenty years later I upgraded to the 2005 remaster and passed my old copy to a friend, after all what’s not to love - remastered sound, extra tracks and new artwork. But here is the problem I stopped playing the album, 15 years later and with lockdown time on my hands and a better knowledge of the remaster/compression/loudness issues I gave the CD another spin and it dawned on me it sounds truly dreadful, just excessive base and none of the clarity of the old CD. Not wishing to retrieve my old copy, I found the original RCA 10 track CD is still available on Amazon, bought it and have played it just now, what a difference it’s the album I remember and loved. So lesson learnt remasters are not all equal, some improve and some destroy.

I have had this album first on cassette and then on CD, so never actually had the vinyl copy. I have played it once, it is fine. I probably won't play it much... It is just 'nice to have it'..

I bought over £100 worth of CDs and this was one of them with eurythmics second album I think this was new and at a cheap price illd like to buy all eurythmics albums as it takes me back to when I was a teenager- great stuff!

ソウルフルなエレクトロニック・ポップ の代表格がユーリズミックス だと思う。 アン・レノックスのヴォーカルは素晴らしく デイヴ・スチュワートは派手な印象はない けれど完成されているミュージシャンだと 思う。80年代を代表するデュオであるとも 言える。

Non recensisco l'opera che è conosciutissima. Disco fondamentale degli Eurythmics, assolutamente da avere in ogni collezione musicale che si rispetti. Veniamo al vinile che è praticamente perfetto: senza ondulazioni e silenzioso. Anche la dinamica, merito della masterizzazione, è perfetta e spinge ad alzare il volume a dismisura. Mi sembra che si senta molto meglio del vinile originale che uscì a suo tempo e che già si sentiva benissimo. In conclusione, fra le diverse riedizioni di vinili storici che ho comprato di recente (che a volte sono masterizzati male o malissimo) questa è una delle migliori. Consigliatissimo

I had the song Sweet Dreams (Are made of this) on 45 back in ‘83 and played the crap out of it. But I never had the full album on any format. I did have their greatest hits cd in the 90’s though. I have never heard This album in its entirety. I got this album today and dropped the needle, and I am So Happy with this record!!! It sounds Amazing! I love the entire album. The sound quality makes it easy to enjoy this record from start to finish! Wide soundstage, great fidelity, great separation, etc., etc. Sweet Dreams makes my living room sound like a nightclub! There is nothing negative to say about this pressing or it’s packaging. Fantastic trip back to my favorite year of the 80’s!
