LOVE my little drill!
I have been using a very heavy porter cable drill, with 14v battery, for years until the last battery finally died. If you know anything about battery operated tools you know a new battery usually costs more than a new tool. When I started looking for a new drill it had to meet a few criteria: 1) It had to be lightweight. I’m tired of having my hands twisted off at the wrist. 2) It had to have two batteries. No waiting for a battery to charge and an included battery is cheaper than buying a separate battery. 3) It had to be Bosch. I learned long ago “You buy a good tool once. You buy a cheap tool twice.” I own a few Dewalt and Porter Cable tools but Bosch has always been my favorite when I could afford it. The DDB181-02 is perfect for my use. I can’t believe how light-weight it is! I don’t have to hold it with both hands to keep it from getting away from me. The rubber-coated grip fits my wimpy little hand easily. I can remove and replace the battery without help. It is compatible with all 18v Bosch Lithium batteries. The two-speed transmission is easy to operate. Attaching the bits is a snap. One double-ended Phillips bit included. There is an LED work light. How cool is that? You get the BC660 charging battery pack. It has one light; blinking for fast charging, steady for charged. The soft-sided case is fine for my use. It has a Velcro strap to hold the drill and a mesh pouch to hold instructions etc. There is a belt clip included which can be attached on either side of the drill, for right or left hand. Bosch makes an almost identical model,DDB182-02 I think, which is brush- less but I think that might be over-kill for a DIY’r. Made in Malaysia. One year warranty.

Great value, but a few things you should know.
Initial impressions. Will update later as required. I have owned a Bosch 18 volt drill/driver for a few years. It has been awesome. I also have a Bosch 18 volt, handheld vacuum, and a reciprocating saw. Figured I needed some more batteries. A fat pack would have been nice, but this was too good to pass up. Two more slim packs, another drill/driver and charger, essentially; for free. I had asked the question of the people; "have they improved the chuck?" The chuck is not great on the older one. The response was, paraphrasing: "seems fine to me". It would appear to me as well, that the chuck is MUCH improved. This is a great drill. Not sure why everyone doesn't do this, but having the light down on the base works great! No shadows as others have pointed out. Seriously, others... a light on the body behind the chuck is useless. A few observations though. This is even more compact than the older version. I don't have the specs on the old one, but if will be interesting to see if as powerful (the old one is a beast, given the size). The motor is much smaller. Second, the two batteries are 1.5 amp, with no fuel gauge. They have no label that my old eyes can read, maybe 611's? My old one also has 1.5 amp BAT610Gs, with fuel gauge. I think the more expensive, newer versions come with 2.0 amp batteries. Still a good deal. But know what you're getting. Pic is of the old (left) next to the new.

This is an EXCELLENT Drill at an EXCELLENT Price.
Used this around the home for a year including re-decking my 16x20 foot deck. Run about 1200 2.75 inch decking screws into 5/4x6 inch decking boards. Had enough torque and power to run the screws straight thru and out the other end if I wanted. The batteries held a charge for what I feel was a good while. Not sue how many screws I got per charge but I never thought I was short changed when it was time to swap batteries. The batteries hold a full charge with plenty of power up to the very end. They start to show signs of needing recharged at about the last 6 screws. My neighbor saw it in action and was impressed at the price and power that he said he was going to order one.

Great drill, right up until it strips out internally after a year and 3 months.
My original review is below, but, as you can see, I have changed it, giving this Bosch drill, and the Bosch company, the five stars they deserve!! Let me catch you up: I was disappointed that the drill stripped out, because my husband loved this drill, and used it a LOT. He is a project, DIY kind of guy. He told me this was the best drill he had ever owned, and he has owned about every name-brand drill there is, both rechargeable, and corded. So, whe it stripped out, just a little over a year out, and the warranty here on Amazon had expired, I was really disappointed. BUT - let me give Amazon props here - I applied for, and got, the Amazon Visa, and got a $70.00 gift card, with which I paid the majority of buying another Bosch drill, just like this one...so, it only cost me around $20.00. THEN, my husband, Mr. DIY - Persistent kind of guy - called the Bosch company direct, and they paid for us to ship the broken drill to them, repaired the drill, and shipped it back, at $0 cost to us! (I know, right?) So, my hubby now has TWO wonderful Bosch drills, at a cost of $20.00 out of pocket! (I paid the Amazon Chase card off, right away, to avoid interest.) Original review: (Only giving two stars, because, even though this is a five star drill while it works, it stripped out internally after owning it for one year, three and a half months...just past the warranty date of one year. A drill that costs this much should last longer than a little over a year. My husband absolutely loved this drill. So disappointed!)

Great price for a great driver/drill.
I've only used it for one project (building my kids' tree fort/playhouse) but it makes holes & puts screws in just fine. Terrific upgrade from my old B&D NiCad. The case is flimsy but I wasn't expecting much. If I have to find a flaw I'll say that the torque setting for screws seems a little uneven -- at the same setting, sometimes it sets the screw flush, sometimes it pulls it 1/4" below the surface of the wood before I have to stop myself. But it's lightweight, powerful, and the batteries hold plenty of juice & recharge quickly.

I purchased a second one of these now for my Son in Law as I was so pleased with mine. I was amazed how small and light this unit actually is. Considering this I was pleasently surprised with how much power it puts out. Everything about this cordless drill speaks to its enigineering and quality. I thought I would have to pay double this for something put together so well. This unit also comes with an excellent 3 year warranty which many of it's competitors do not offer. The torque of the unit is very good,it has 2 speeds which is pretty standard and the clutch works very well. I have used this for alot of construction around the house and so far it has easily handled everything I through at it. I am amased how long the battery lasts and so far even though it comes with a second battery I have not had to use it as the battery outlasts me every time. I thought at first I would have liked a hard case like my old cordless drill but the case it has is good quality, very light and the zipper is excellent so no complaints. Would I buy this again? Yes, I already have as mentioned earlier. I do alot of reasearch before I buy anything and I was confident this whas going to suit my needs and have excellent quality and value. This drill has exceeded my expectations in every way and I highly recommend it. Pros: Good build quality Powerfull Very light long lasting dual batteries Excellent Warranty Strong well constucted case Cons: Some people may prefer a hard plastic case

It is definitely the best drill I have owned to date, but I don't know what that says since it is only the third one I've had. I have previously had a hardware store branded drill, which was good for the first year, but the battery life was not the greatest and the power was kind of lackluster. I also still have a corded Black and Decker heirloom drill that is still going pretty good, but doesn't have a reverse function. I only do work around the house including some simple furniture builds, so I am not a heavy user. I am impressed with the Bosch so far, especially with it being quite small and easy to handle. The battery life is great and it definitely can hold its own in the power department. I love that it comes with two batteries, so you can keep working if the first one dies out on you. It has a light that comes on when you press the trigger, which I don't find all that useful. It would be better if there was a light switch, so I would be able to turn it on and see the hole I want to drill into before actually drilling it. I usually have a separate light anyways, so not a big deal to me. It also comes with a case, which I appreciate, so I can keep everything together on my tool wall when not in use. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a drill.

Hasta le fecha, la mejor inversión que hice desde mucho. Se siente súper bien en la mano, la segunda pila es un adicional muy apreciado, siempre tienes energía. Preferí ese modelo en 18v para su capacidad de brocas hasta 1/2”. No me arrepiento!
