Little Tikes Shopping Cart - Yellow/Red

I'd been "shopping" for a shopping cart a few weeks now for my 15 month old son. He isn't walking yet and his physical therapist recommended using a shopping cart for a push-toy since my (very tall) son needs help learning to walk but is too big for most walker toys at this point. I checked a variety of second-hand and big box stores and all of the carts I found seemed to be made of very cheap plastic that would break easily if any pressure were put on it. Also they seemed too top-heavy which made them wobbly/unstable and they were short over all, handlebar height coming up to around 15-18 inches. I bit the bullet and purchased this one based on the other positive reviews and I'm so glad I did. It took about 20 minutes to assemble (NOTE: You'll need a hammer and phillips screwdriver). My husband helped a little but one person could easily do it. I actually liked assembling it so I could see how it was put together and gauge how sturdy it would be. The plastic feels very thick and durable, the wheels are solid construction, and the colors are very appealing (I had a hard time keeping my son away while we tried to put it together). There is also a plug on the bottom where you can fill the bottom interior compartment with sand to give the cart some added heft, perfect for helping a little pre-walker feel more secure. The cart basket section is about 21 inches high with the handlebar height coming up to about 23 1/2 inches, the rest of the cart is about 12 inches wide and 21 inches deep--perfect for my 33" tall son to use for walking. I am already so impressed with this shopping cart and it's only been out of the box for about 2 hours. So far it's worked well on all indoor surfaces: tile, wood flooring, and carpet. I expect it would hold up well outdoors too. The quality and sturdiness far surpasses any of the cheap plastic carts I'd looked at in-person at the various stores. If you are going to buy a plastic shopping cart, make it this one. (I didn't look into metal carts because my son is still getting his bearings and I didn't want to worry about him accidentally hurting himself.) FYI: Some reviews talked about this cart coming with play money/coins that were a choking hazard and also someone's child getting their head stuck in a compartment. The dates on those reviews are from the early 2000s and this cart must have been redesigned since then because it doesn't come with any additional items (no play food or money) and I can't see anywhere a child could get their head stuck.

After looking at several shopping carts I ordered this one because it looked sturdier than the others , had a deeper basket and was taller than other carts. The directions for assembly were so clear, easy to follow, and took about twenty minutes start to finish. All the parts fit together easily. This is a really good item that is sturdy and well made. Because of the high handle toddlers will be able to use it for several years. Highly recommend it!

Super easy to put together! It only took me about 20 minutes to assemble by myself. The cart rolls so smoothly. You barely have to push it, and it glides really nicely. Everything works exactly as it should. It’s also the perfect height for my 2-year-old. He can push it around all by himself, and he absolutely loves playing with it. Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s sturdy, cute, and I have nothing negative to say about it. I’d definitely recommend it to other parents.

Nice item! Well made. Will last! Size is just right! I bought this to help my very adventurous 1 year old to help him start walking as he is almost there. It does roll easily and my child could fall but it also helps teach him balance. We have wall to wall carpeting and it moves well over the carpeting. Even my 4 year old plays with it. The handle is about even with his belly button which is still perfect. I see a shopping experience coming where my son can learn about shopping and making purchases himself. This is a great toy. It will be well used. Update: this toy has taken a beating! And even 2 years later it’s still going strong. One downfall of this toy, and it’s not so much the manufacturers fault as my kids abuse this toy and climb and sit on it. But sometimes the the rod and the wheels pop out from time to time. But again, it’s because the climb on it and tip it so that the wheels are at a strange angle and the weight from my boys pop the rod out. It does pop back in with a little force. And works perfectly afterward! This doesn’t stop me from giving this toy a 5 star rating! I do suggest this to to anyone who wants to purchase it!

Bought this for my grandson’s 2nd birthday. He was so excited when he opened it. He left all his gifts and only wanted to play with this. He loves filing it up and pushing it all over the house. It’s the perfect height and these products are extremely well made. They hold up under a great deal of rough play. Keeps him occupied and content for a long time. I’ve tried others over the years for other children and found this to be the most sturdy. I chose this because it had no metal to get little hands stuck in. This is smooth with no rough seams.

if you want to give one of these, as a gift, do not pay extra money to have Amazon ship it to them, you need to have it shipped to you first. I get a bigger box to wrap it as a gift, because you’ll need to put this together. If you do, choose to have Amazon ship it to whoever as a gift, worn the recipient, or their guardian. This thing is extremely hard to put together. I am a single parent with two girls. They really liked it after I put it together . But it took me an hour to do it. The wheels come with the bolt stabilizers, but you still have to stabilize those things as well if you’re working to put it together on carpet. Also, the wheels will pop off if a kid, even a toddler tries to ride in it. you can easily pop them back on, if you slide the wheels and the little metal washers back in place at the ends of the rods and then pop it back into the cart. Also, they give you these little screw caps, and they give you five of them , thank goodness. Cause I was trying to figure out how to use one, and accidentally shut it, they’re really hard to pry back open. Which is understandable, because you don’t want your kids prying them open and unscrewing the cart. Otherwise, it’s really sturdy and durable for indoor outdoor use. But again, I wouldn’t put a kid in it and try and push them around.

This is a very sturdy little shopping cart. We keep various toys at our home for our two little grandchildren, so when they visit there are always toys to keep their imaginations enticed and for them to have fun with as well. This is one of the latest we've added and are so glad we did. First of all it needs some assembly but the directions were easy to follow and didn't take more than 10 to 15 minutes to assemble. I know this won't fall apart and will last for many years, then we can pass it along to someone else who can use it for their little ones. I can't stress enough how important it is to us that our grandchildren play with sturdy toys, especially at their age as our little granddaughter is just learning to walk. You'll see in one of my pictures a comparison to a different shopping cart.....and the one which is not Little Tikes we would not even be able to use for the purpose of assisting her in learning to walk. As a matter of fact it would be too dangerous just due to the weight and instability. This is a great toy for both the grandchildren as our 3 year old grandson likes loading it up with all the different toy food and even putting some of his other toys in the real basket seat in top (just like at the grocery store) to give them a ride. If you are looking for a long lasting sturdy toy shopping cart I wouldn't purchase any other.

Just like the little tykes shopping cart popular when my adult children were kids. Takes time to put it together and there is a video available to help. Once I read the instruction it was simple to follow the directions. Took 25 min. to put together. Very sturdy. Right height for my 18 month grandson. I love how the small front basket folds up just like the carts at the store. Looking forward to seeing my grandson play with it at Christmas.

great size for little ones, strong and study. Should last well for a playgroup setting..

My grandson loves it. It was an Easter gift. Won't leave it alone. Plays with it all the time. Piles his toys in it. Quality is great, easy to assemble. The only thing I can say about the assembly would be the rod for the wheels. Very tight to pass through. Once in, great. Good name product for children, Little Tites.
