The Cat Lovers Coloring Book (Dover Animal Coloring Books) Paperback – Coloring Book, November 9, 2007

When I went in search for ONE kitty coloring book suiteable for adult coloring AND a potential emboridery pattern book, I found 3, one of which is the Dover Publication: "The Cat Lover's" Coloring Book by Ruth Soffer. This is a very appealling book, containing 30 pages, front and back, a variety of kitties, many long-hair, which I also favor. There weren't any precolored panels for inspiration, except the front cover, so you are own your own initiative, but the drawings contain plenty of diverse USA backgrounds for a coloring subject. From desert, floral, windows, baskets, fence, hills, patio, dining room, and old houses. Cats are exceptionally well drawn, and I draw, so I also appreciate the exceptional work of the artist.

This is by far the best cat coloring book I have seen to date. I love how each picture tells you what kind of cat is in the image and has a description. The pictures are gorgeous, I cannot wait to color this book. The only downfall is that it is double sided so I may have to make copies first so I don't ruin the other side of the page but otherwise it's beautiful.

These cat drawings are well depicted, after they are finished they look as if they could leap off the page and into your lap. So they can begin kneading your lap and purring, in preparation for a cat nap. Each picture has a description and interesting fact about each breed. Good for any cat lover, especially those with allergies to spend some time relaxing while coloring.• note book is double sided so color pencils work best.

I went to my internet browser to look up images of the type of cat listed on each page so I could have a good idea of eye, hair and nose coloration, as well as any patterns of those colors, before I started to color each page. The many problem I had was that between the colors of the cats and the fences/buildings/flora/mountains in the background, I used up a lot of my grey and brown pencils. It would be nice if pencils were sold in packs of variations of the same color - ie: a 7 pack of shades of grey, brown, green, etc.

The pictures are lovely and much easier to color than real cats.

I took a chance and ordered several different Dover coloring books. I was concerned about not being able to see them or feel the paper for myself. I'm happy to say they are as good as many other reviewers said they are. Based on the reviews I selected books by Diane Gaspas, Ruth Soffer, Jan Sovak and Paul Kennedy. The pictures are expertly drawn and contain basic information about each picture to be colored. Excellent product for anyone who enjoys coloring.

The pictures in this book are so realistic!

The drawings and captions are nice, and well-researched, but they printed them on both sides. The paper does not prevent bleedthrough if you color with markers or gel pens, so if you want to be able to color every picture, you'll have to buy two of these. Lots of different breeds illustrated, lots of real flowers and plants, and the results will probably please you if you like to shoot for photorealism. I suggest you take the time to look up good images of each breed, and of each flower while you're at it, and get the colors right. There are other cat coloring books I have on my wish-list but this one is a good start for beginner to advanced colorists.

This book is beautiful, there is no other description that fits, I am not the arty type but even I found this easy to follow and the pictures come out looking so beautiful that we have one framed in out living room- our friend came round and fell in love with it so much that they bought their own copy too!

Quel bel album, des dessins réalistes, fins et plein de poésie. Une finesse dans les traits, des arrières plans très jolis, c'est un de mes albums préférés, je le recommande aux amoureux de nos petits félins.

Purchased it for a gift for my cat lover friends for Christmas. I really enjoy adult colouring books and I think they will too. Nice pictures.
